If you look at a toddler bed in the store it says 2. But you also need to realize if you put that toddler in a bed how safe is your house when he or she gets up before you.

Once they are unsafe in the crib and can climb out or youre scared theyll fall then put them in a toddler bed my oldest was only 1.5 but she was unsafe in the crib. dont do it if you dont have to wait until they can climb out. Otherwise, You'll have to be on duty before they are awake once they realize they can get up and get into things without mommy. Mine wouldnt go near a crib once they had slept in a bed theres no going back.

It depends on the maturity of the toddler, some are ready sooner than others. You will know when its the right time. I don't recommend it too early because then it gives them alot of freedom to wander.

when they can understand that when they get in it they don't get out straight away and start running round! around late 2's or 3.
