There are several possibilities.
It is possible one of the internal fuses blew out.
It could be a bad horizontal outut transistor.
It could be a bad secondary of the power supply went bad
And many other things.
If it's just a fuse, it won't cost much, but a lot of them do not look like you would expect a fuse to look like.It might be a little yellow, green, or gray rectangualar box shaped part.

The input channel may have been changed. Try pushing the input button, and change it to all the possible inputs.
My mother's tv allows sound when it is on input channel 4, but no picture. It has to be on input 5 for that.
Couldn't hurt to try.

Make sure you do not have anything hooked to it which may be drawing the power (DVD, VCR etc..)I would also check to make sure it is not on GAME or some other channel. If none of this is the case, it is shot. Time for a new one

ditto on above, Thanks for the reference. There are many possibilities. Trust me, i have aquired 6 sets in the past 3 weeks from people who just buy a new one, just because they quit, i have put an aveerage of 9 bucks(my cost) in material in each set, and now have 6 reconditioned tvs to re-sale.
All that said to say this. Dont throw it away, take it to your local repair man and let them fix it.

It is possible that the picture tube may have gone out. You may want to get it check out or serviced, but in today's market, it may be cheaper just to get a new one. See if it may still be under any kind of warranty.

The picture tube is busted. You are better off buying a new one than getting it repaired (the cost will be about the same).

Your TV is shot. It will cost more to repair it than to replace it.
