Well, is your definition of jew a nationality or religion. He was born in Judea, making him a Jew in a national sense, but he did not conform to the jewish religion as we know it.
In another sence he was the perfect Jew, being able to succeed in righteousness more than the pharisees and saducees. And he wasn't a Christian (wait for it...) because...
A christian is someone who is a disciple/apprentice of Christ. He couldn't follow himself, so he is not a Christian in that sence. He was The Christ.

Jesus was jewish..so then WHY do Jewish people say that they did not kill him? Why was the Mel Gibson film seen as anti-semetic?
The Jews today do not have to agree with the New Testament..doesn't mean that it didn't happen..
sometimes I want to believe that 9-11 didn't happen and the towers are as they were...but what good does it do? it was a sad day..and no matter how much I try to forget that day...it is unforgettable and my family wasn't even involved..but I had friends that were...so will Muslims deny having done that 500 yrs from now? watching their families dancing in the streets and shooting off guns in the streets?
Jews may have left Pontius Pilate and the romans physically kill him...but that doesn't completely wash their hands of the crucifiction nor does God care if Pontius washed his hand in a bowl of water or not...ALL THIS SAID, Christ's death was inevitable..it was part of the plan and HAD to happen...
KKK-white christians???? I AM CALLIN YOUR BS ON THAT ONE
NOT JUST WHITE CHRISTIANS..WHITE POWER ARYAN CHRISTIANS..DON'T LEAVE OUT THE ADJECTIVES JUST BECAUSE IT STRENGTHENS YOUR ARGUMENT...
THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO..

I don't know of any Christians that are afraid to say that Jesus was Jewish. I wonder if the reference to Jewish is that of a place of origin, or a religion. Since the Jews back then were like people today insisting that the faith is extreme and too conservative, it became liberalized and was no longer consistent with the guidelines of the Ten Commandments. Jesus's teachings were very consistent with the Ten Commandments and therefore irked the chief priests of the day to the point that they conspired to have him killed. They placed a sign on the cross that read "Jesus of Nazareth - King of the Jews" as a form of mockery. As most Christians believe, that Jesus came for everyone regardless of race, color, religion, and place of origin. To question if Jesus was a Jew is not important because His kingdom is not on earth but with the "Father".

I'm A christian myself, and Jesus was Jewish. The difference between the two religoins is that Jews are still waiting for a savior and Christians believe Jesus was the savior. So technically Jesus would be Jewish because he hadn't died and become the savoir yet.

Everyone knows Jesus was Jewish. I've never heard a Christian say otherwise. Where'd you get the idea that we're afraid to say He was Jewish?
There weren't any people called Christians before Him, because Christian means Follower of Christ.

Because if Chrisitians were to acknowledge the Jewish heritage of Jesus, then the whole Chrisitan dogma would fall apart at the seams. You'd all be called Jews and no one would be called Christian. At least, in that way, no one would ever invent the Ku Klux Klan (FYI - KKK members are classified as white christians).

Jesus being Jewish isn't really significant, but I know what you mean. Many Christians believe what they want to believe and in my experience can be some of the most close minded judgemental people out there.

Why do you think that? Real Christians know it. If someone has told you they are a Christian and are afraid to say Jesus is Jewish, they are either not a Christian or pulling your leg. That is really odd.

hahaha.. of course he was jewish, son of god or not. He was born in bethlehem, wasn't he, and raised in Nazareth. So that's were jews are from. He probably didn't look anything like the paintings portray him, an image born from renassaince painters that painted him with italian features like in the last supper, he had jewish featurese. I've never heard that christians don't like that.

I think if more people realized it, it would account for some of the implied inconsistencies people point to.
Of course He was a Jew. And all His disciples were Jews. There were no Christians (and no New Testament) until after His Resurrection. The thief on the cross died a Jew, not a Christian.
