Magpiex seems to be the only response that really reaches the point of the movie -- the descendants of Jesus and Mary Magdalene -- was there a relationship and were their children. Anyone who has taken the History of Christianity and other topics regarding Jesus "the Christ" --is a title not His last name -- could see some parallels between the history of Christianity and the history of the church.
Point is Women "had" spiritual leadership positions in the church. When I took my History of Christianity courses there was the discussion regarding the vacant 6 months of the list of Popes. A name is missing -- one name Pope Joan -- although there aren't any written documentation that she actually existed.
I haven't read the book, however, as I watched the movie, many things learned and read came to mind. I'll own the movie because I want to see it again and study some additional things brought forward.
I don't think it will have a huge impact on young Christians or even old Christians. I hope it has an impact on ALL Christians to stop taking totally the "word" of the Spiritual Leader and conduct some study of their own -- and not just bible study. It's sad, but some people think that King James wrote the bible -- bad news for all those that believe he did -- HE DIDN'T! I know many African-American Christians believe that the King James version of the bible is GOSPEL!

Since it is a work of fiction, I don't think it should have any impact on any Christian. If someone thinks what the Da Vinci Code says is true and doesn't check up on the "facts," then they are easily mislead. People need to realize that the book is FICTION and get over it.

It was a decent book, but is not history.
You want the history behind Jesus and Mary's relationship, read "Rex Deus", "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail", and "The Messianic Legacy"
These are NON-fiction books (at least they are backed up by solid research) and the anti-Da Vinci Code crowd are praying that no-one gets around to reading.

It's fiction. The code was a huge financial success and Christianity has benefited by it because it gave the faith a lot of publicity as they bashed the film. The passion of the Christ was just as fictional and Christians didn't seem to mind that film.

Personally, I didn't see it, because I know there is something fishy about that film. In the first place, the biggest mistake is showing the film. Or letting your children see the film. That film is a novel so it means it's fiction, an imagination of a playful (I cannot say creative) mind of someone.

I didn't appreciate the novel, and yes I think it's confusing to young Christians and everyone who doesn't know any better would believe what they read in it. The enemy is at work is'nt he? Tv, books, radio, he has charge of the airwaves too. He is trying to do whatever he can to drag people down with him. But we know who wins, we've read the ending of the Book!

It was a great novel, and I hope it does have an impact on young Christians. I hope it makes them question everything they have been brainwashed into believing, and I hope they start thinking for themselves for the first time in their lives.

I read it, and I don't get the big deal. It doesn't really outright say Christianity is evil, well it does sorta imply that the catholic church is a bunch of liars, so I guess I get it. However, I think people should be calm. It is not like people are gonna covert because of it. If anything, people are gonna wanna learn about Catholicism.
