Some guys just want to know that they could get numbers. Or they're not interested but don't know how to tell you that without hurting your feelings so they get the number but have no intention of calling.

At a guess I'd say it's because they're spineless and can't tell you up from they're not interested. It's easier to dissapoint a girl after you say goodbye to her so some guys will ask for their number so they don't have to deal with the let down and then they'll just forget em...

Guys ask for your number as a test for themselves. Receiving a number reassures them of their abilities to get any girl they want. If you're tired of giving out your number and not receiving any calls maybe you should stop giving out your number. If the guy really wants it and wants to call he'll be persistent and keep asking until you finally decide to give him the number to call.
