When you have taken the for a long period of time you have to be winged off of them because of withdrawal effects. You will have withdrawal if the meds are suddenly stoped. I had to take it after haveing screws put in my knee. I didn't like takeing it after two or three weeks and got sicker. That's when the docotor told me what was happening. If you are winged of slowy it should be out of you system in a matter of three to five days depending on how long have have takeing it.

Rule of thumb, about a month.

Note that I'm talking to undetectability on a drug screen specifically looking for hydrocodone and its metabolites. The standard NIDA Five drug screen will not pick up Vicodin; it is tuned specifically to find codeine and morphine (and if the morphine is sufficiently positive, 6 monoacetyl morphine) and to ignore other opiates.

All drugs except a few are undetectable in you urine in 2-5 days depending on your metabolism and how hydrated you are. Pot stays detectable for 3-5 weeks.
