First of all,you should believe that there is one God "Allah" who create every thing and to believe that Mohammad's (Peace be up on him )is the messenger sent by Allah "God " to lead the people to Islam.You must believe all that from the bottom of your heart.Islam is not as some people think.When Muslims are killed no one care,but when some of them do the same to you ,you feel angry.WHY?Do you feel pain and Muslims not.Or they don't have the right to feel and do something to protect them selves?

you must have total believe in what you're doing, pure intention that you want to be a muslim because you're a believer and for no other reason. believe that there's no god but Allah and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is his prophet.

your local mosque would be the best place to start, but i would suggest a few visits to a library or any other educational sources before you devote yourself to sniffing bums and praying to Mecca

the first step is do not do it
if you later decide you do not like it and leave the religion
it is in their code of beliefs that they will kill you if you leave their religion - to kill a departing person gives them more "points" to get to heaven
