The Sheraton is very nice and on one of the better beaches. The location of the Sheraton, Poipu, is a more resort like area. Request a room on the 4th floor (top floor) and they have cathedral ceilings. The Resort Quest is also nice but the beach is a little rougher. The area is more town than resort. It is about 20 minutes from Poipu. More of the budgety hotels there and close to the airport.

There are some things to consider:

1-City of departure
2-Your Travel Budget
3-Length of stay
4-Hotel and Air? All-Inclusive?

Before I go further, there are actually 2 golf courses that are top-notch(based on recommendations from fellow travellers/golfers who have been to Kauai):

1-Poipu Bay Golf Course. Here you will find beaches, ocean views, undulating fairways and tricky breaks. 86 bunkers and 4 lakes add to the challenge and beauty. Ranked #6 in top 10 courses in Hawaii by Golf Digest.

2-Lagoons Course. Scottish Style Links with a scenic setting and abounding with wildlife.

Now, as far as accomodations(keep in mind that my opinions here are based on being a traveller to Hawaii and being Owner of a Travel Agency) are concerned, Sheraton Kauai Resort is VERY nice; a golfer's Resort, so to speak. Another very nice Resort to keep in mind is ResortQuest Islander On The Beach; it is also on Kauai. Located on ocean-front property, with lushly landscaped gardens throughout. Lots of shops and restaurants very close to Coconut Marketplace. And get this---the rooms are in fact "Condos"--fully furnished with Island-style art work. They have a pool and jet spa, and golf is nearby.

You really cannot go wrong with with either the Sheraton or ResortQuest Islander. Kindly either call, email me at: indysteve1563@yahoo.com, or reach me at Yahoo MEssenger, and I wll lock you into special, unpublished Vacation Package rates that cannot be found anywhere else.
