No! Tylenol can poison many animals including humans in high enough doses. Tylenol is supposedly lethal to cats.

Just comfort him & make him as comfortable as possible.

If he is still upset tomorrow, call your vet. he may be able to give him some medication.

I think the fact that you have been encouraged by some people here to give Tylenol PM to your dog (including a vet tech.) is evidence that posting questions like this here is really unsafe. You should NEVER give your dog Tylenol, let alone Tylenol PM. Regular Tylenol is known to cause severe stomach upset and gastric ulcers. You have not mentioned the age of your dog and young dogs often don't have the enzymes to process aspirin, let alone Tylenol. Fireworks are a huge problem with some dogs, but they will be over soon and you can see your vet and get a prescription that will help your dog during the next thunder storm or nights where fireworks can be heard. Your problems will be much worse if you make the dog sick on top of everything else.

So when you found this 10 minutes ago, you took the time to turn on the computer and to ask a question on a random website rather than call the vet? You don't even tell us what kind of sleeping pills, how much your dog might have consumed, or how large your dog is, yet you want advice? Yes, sleeping pills can be fatal to a dog. However, if these are OTC sleeping pills made of Diphenhydramine HCL, this is the same active ingredient as Benadryl. Benadryl can be tolerated in fairly large doses. Regardless, you should get off the computer and call the vet. Added: Is this your Rottweiler? If it is the Diphenhydramine HCL, with NOTHING else added (like Tylenol PM), the probable dosage of Benadryl with the same active ingredient would be up to 2mg per lb. On a 150lb dog, that would be 6 50mg Sleep Aids. If he's OD'd, then he could go into respiratory failure and/or start having seizures.

I know you have a lot of people answering you on this, but I just thought I would make a helpful suggestion. no you can't give a dog tylenol PM, it has acetaminophen in it, which is potentially harmful to dogs. You can however give him Benadryl, make sure it doesn't have an antihistamine or acetaminophen in it. the only active ingredient should be dyphenhydramine (there may be 3 letters after that liek HCI or HTC, its ok if it says that)
The rule of thumb is 1 mg per lb. So if your dog weighs 95lbs then he gets 95 mgs. I work at a Vet's office, this is what all the Vets are telling people that call in.

Tylenol Pm Dosage

Diphenhydramine is the same thing as Benadryl...safe for dogs. Anything Tylenol however is not safe for them . Next year, ask your vet for some Acepromazine. It's completely safe for your dog and most respond well to it. On the other hand, how about training your dog to be good with loud noises so no drugs are needed??? You can teach an old dog new tricks. Start by dropping little things on the ground near him that won't make much noise....then move up(pots and pans work well) It's a great de-sensitizing method.

NO! Put some music or the TV on, stay with him, give him a few treats, a stuffed Kong, play games with him. In the future try getting a DAP diffuser, Rescue Remedy or an Anxiety Wrap. Tylenol PM could be dangerous for a dog. Or call your vet now and see what you can give him.

If memory serves me correctly Tylenol PM is acetaminophen and diphenhydramine. Sorry, I don't take the stuff so I don't have a bottle to check.

Both drugs are safe for a dog. Dosage is:
acetaminophen = 10mg per 2.5 lbs of dog
diphenhydramine = 2mg per 2.5 lbs of dog

However, diphenhydramine doesn't have the same sedating effects on dogs as humans. So, wouldn't really help.

And my Rottweiler is troubled by the fireworks also. Try to remain calm and don't over-react. Dogs pattern themselves after your (the pack leader's) behavior. The more you stress about his stress, the worse it becomes.

Dog Training is all about getting your canine to behave well, but some people do it for sports and other entertainment purposes. Some of the other reasons people train their dogs are:

It rewarding since you get a sense of accomplishment once a dog can do something new.
It is a good opportunity to bond with the dog - this is important for the dog and for the owner.
You can make money when you train dogs as a business or for sport.
Training the dog is fun and it challenges the owner and the dog.
Different trainers have different techniques for training their canine. However, some techniques are more effective than others. To learn about the best techniques, visit a registered dog trainer, talk to a veterinarian, or do online or offline research.
There are several types of training that you, or a professional, can explore to train dogs and these are:

1) Behavior and obedience training: One training that is universal is behavior and obedience training. This is done on dogs of all ages, but it is better to start when the canine is a puppy because as they say, it is hard to teach old dogs new tricks. Behavior and obedience dog trainingbrings out the best in the dog and it makes understanding each other easier.

2) House training: House training is very important and it should also start when the dog is still a puppy. House training is all about training the dog to have house manners and to respect your space. There are several techniques used for this and they include crate training and pad training for training the dog to 'go' outside.

3) Positive reinforcement: Positive reinforcement is a new type of training approach and it is all about rewarding the dog for good behavior or for learning a new trick. All animals tend to perform better when there is a promise of a reward. Possible rewards are snacks, interaction with other dogs, giving the dog your attention, or giving the dog tug toys - the reward should take into consideration what the dog likes because dogs are different.

4) Negative reinforcement: Negative reinforcement training approach has been used for many years where the dog is punished for failure to learn or to behave properly, but this does not work because it only makes the canine scared and causes it to lose confidence. Negative reinforcement techniques included beatings and electric shocks.

5) Trick training: Trick training is done for fun, by those who want a sports dog, and those involved in other entertainment activities such as the circus. You should choose the dog carefully to avoid frustration because some dogs are easier to train than others.

6) Teething: It is important to train dogs when they are teething because they are under a lot of pain and they usually chew on furniture such as table legs, shoes, and even wallpaper. Possible training techniques for discouraging the chewing are bad-smelling sprays on items that are at risk and giving the dog chew toys.

7) Command training: It is possible to train dogs to follow commands. These commands include 'sit', 'attack', and 'fetch', among others. This requires patience and there are various techniques of dog training that can be used to achieve this such as giving rewards.
