The first thing you think about when you wake up is the dog, and the last thing you think about before going to sleep is the dog. When you go to places without the dog, you will constantly think about the dog. You have to pick up the dog's doodo...and believe you me- it is no fun, but you will do anything for a friend to be able to stay with you, so you will learn how to hold your breath while picking it up. Depending on what kind of dog, you will have to walk him 1-3 X/day. Vet visits are also a must....are you ready for this kind of responsibility?
Go to the Humane Society in your area- or something similar to it. If you get a dog there, you can actually return him after up to 30 days and you get your money back...well that's how it is here where I live. The dogs there cost a lot less, too ($55+ $10 for licensing).
About a week ago, my son begged me to get a dog. I love him dearly, so I got him one. But in the first 24 hours he showed very little initiative and he hated picking up and disposing the dog's doodo. That very night I thought about how I would end up taking care of the dog ...like I take care of all the other pets we have. I did not sleep a single hour that night. The next day I returned the dog. I wept at the Humane Society, because I felt sorry for having to return the puppy. I now know for sure that I did the right thing.
I don't want your ten points. Good luck to you and your sis.

It's work, but the love can be worth it. However, you sound really really young, so it's unrealistic to say that you will take care of everything for the dog forever. Your parents will have to pay to take it to the vet. Your parents will have to pay for food, toys, medical treatment, and anything else that he needs. Your parents will have to take care of it when you go to college or move out. Your parents will have to take care of it if you go away on vacation. Your parents will have to take care of it if you get tired of doing so.

To take care of the dog, you'll have to
Feed It
Water It
Bathe It
Brush It
Trim Its Nails
Get it Vaccinated
Be Willing to clean up any accidents in the house
Clean up poop from the yard
Take care of it if it gets sick
Play with it
Take it for walks - everyday if necessary
Make sure it doesn't run away
Brush its teeth
Get up at 2 am to take it out to go potty
Let it out every 2-5 hours to go potty

If you decide to get a dog, you need to get one that is good with kids, is relatively healthy, and who is already housebroken. You should also get at least a medium sized dog who will listen to you & your family.

Check out some of the rescue sites near you and see if anything might fit your family's needs. Good luck to you.

Remember if you are the only one who wants a dog - then it's not a good time to get one.

all dogs are kind of hard to care for. but it u really want one it shouldn't matter how much work u have to put in it so do u really want one? seems to me like ur still confused so i would think about it more it i was u. dogs need to be fed and given clean water everyday . they need routine visits to the vet. they need to be groomed when needed ( Includes bathing, brushing, clipping nails) u need to train ur dog which depending on the dog's personality is pretty hard work. u also have to spend time with ur dog or else they will get bored and destroy ur things. and u need to clean up after them. u know what i mean, and it's kinda gross. and u need to give them lots of love. that's the most important.

Do you want a large or small dog. Nothing is hard to take care of if you love it. If no one in your family wants to care for the dog maybe you should rethink getting one. Think of the dog

Specially you have to care your dog by your love. Taking care a dog is not much hard like you think, I have 4 dogs now in my house, but It's easy and also it takes not much of my time to care them, just make sure about the first dog, if your first dog is good, second dog will immitate him ... Wow, what you have to do to them? Give food, care of water, of birds in their body. One year you have to take your dog to hospital one time to shot for anti-sickness, then in house, always have the medicine for their hair. Taking shower for them is depened on you, if you want you can take shower for them everyday, but if you don't want, 1 week 1 time is ok, also in Winter season can not take shower ...

You have to always watch-out their nose and their ****, if their nose try it means they're sick, have to go to hospital, their **** is wet also have to manage about food again.

Finally I just can tell you, take care a dog like take care our baby, they don't know how to tell us how they feel, but they have their private language, from time to time you live with them, you will understand their language, and when you can understand, you never never wanna leave them, you also can not live without them, they're best friends ... Good luck and have a nice time to find a dog ... Any kind of dogs is ok, for example me, I like big dog, so I have 1 wolf, 1 bear-dog, 2 is normal but not small, really good in fighting ... hahah
