salt water will induce vomiting. which will empty the stomach and allow you to sober up. which is much faster means of sobering up than it staying in your stomach makes you even drunker. you can also drink black strong coffee it will not sober you up but it will make you able to function again for a while. bread will soak up the alcohol makes the effect less noticeable as well.
also being truely scared for your life or the life of someone you love will sober you up in a second. and i mean petrified scared. wont find it hard to be sober after that

Getting Them Sober

Hooray to all of the people who said that nothing you can drink or eat can sober you up. Think about it cowboys, once you are 'drunk' the alcohol has already gone through your stomach, overwhelmed your liver and affected your brain. Purging your stomach only stops the absorption of more alcohol. Drinking coffee or eating only add layers of alertness or fullness on top of your drunken state. You still have the altered perceptions that alcohol produces. Drinking water may help stop the hangover in the morning as that is mainly caused by dehydration. The only thing that will clean the alcohol out of your body is the liver and enough time for it to do its work.

Nothing. The only thing that makes a person sober is time.
A shower does not work, coffee, sleep, anything, none of it works. Sleeping is a bad idea when you're extremely drunk anyways because you could throw up and like choke on it.

Nothing "FLUSHES" out the system of alcohol. The liver is what processes it. All the posts that suggest TIME are 100% correct. All others are urban legend. The person's weight and other factors affect on how long the alcohol will take to run it's course. Coffee = a wide awake drunk .

The body processes the alcohol in the liver. The liver is limited to about 1 drink per hour average. You have a relatively finite amount of blood and drinking a lot of water does not thin it signifigantly, it just fills your bladder. The affects of alcohol, lack of coordination and inhibition, are not countered by drugs or other stimulants. Those stimulants may counter any sleepyness affect ,but thats it. Other wise ,redbull and vodka would be a net neutral, but people still get drunk. They are just awake drunks.

so, no. nothing you can drink will counter the effects.

Strong Black Coffee. To prevent a person from being super drunk, they should line their stomach with food (the greasier, the better) containing bread. Cheeseburgers are always a good thing. Getting drunk on an empty stomach is a bad idea.

nothing. 'pedialyte' will help add lost electrolytes to the drunks system but wont make them sober. water helps slow the alcohol absorption and helps prevent hangovers. black coffee would only make the person a wide- awake drunk.

according to a professor i had once, its possible to hook a person up to a dialysis machine (should one be present) and have them relatively sober in a short period of time.
