Yes, warm-up first - you are less likely to damage your vocal cord and more likely to sound your best.

As for breathing from the diaphragm, lay flat on your back, and breathe slowly and deeply. You should feel your belly rising and falling- this is diaphragmatic breathing. Start practicing it now, it helps expand your lung capacity and ultimately will help your singing, but it's too close to your performance to try to change your technique. So for this week, stick with what you're used to.

Well, you've been told enough about warming up, as for singing from the diaphram...try this tip, its how I learned some 27 years ago.

Lie on your back with a fairly heavy book just below your rib cage (the area of your diaphram) when you inhale, make the book rise. Control the lowering of the book when you exhale. It's a VERY strange feeling at first and, unfortunately, I don't think you'll get it mastered but this weekend, but thats how it starts. If you have the chance to... notice the way a newborn breathes, their stomach rises and falls NOT their chest and shoulders. We are all born breathing properly then we get lazy and switch to breathing from our lungs rather than the diaphram. It's a much easier way but also less effecient.

There are vocal exercises you can use to warm up -- most singing/music teachers should know a couple they can teach you. Failing that, just sing an easy song that suits your voice to start with, then move onto the song(s) you'll be performing (the important part being that you are singing notes of a similar pitch to those you'll be singing in concert -- you will be using different vocal folds/cords).

Set aside at least 5 minutes to warm up; longer is better. How long you need depends on the difficulty of the music you'll perform. You should feel comfortable singing -- if you feel like you're pushing the sound out of your throat, or if you frown when you sing, your voice is not warmed up enough.

If you don't warm up your voice, you run the risk of damaging your voice. Short term, you'll get a sore larynx, and may not be able to continue singing. Long term, you may develop nodules which will require you to rest your voice (and may even require surgery).

Stay in touch with your body, and it will tell you if you're doing something wrong. I sang/screamed metal with my school's band when I was 15, with almost no training; but I could tell which techniques worked and which didn't by monitoring the way my larynx felt afterwards. If I hadn't been able to tell when I was damaging my voice, I may have done permanent damage.

Just breath by pushing out your stomach, you're over thinking it too much. Voice exercises are not needed unless you really have a high octive, that I'm no expert on, as I am a Bass.

I love singing =) and performing, I love attention!

There is no danger in not, just makes hitting notes easier.
the best way to warm up to me is to do a song that no one likes except you.
