I know what you mean. some of the biggest Christians are some of the worse people but that is just because the fake like they are godly but they really aren't. they give Christians a bad name and make real Christians look bad. don't lose faith because some Christians are liars and phoney as hell. i hate those types of people. my whole family is full of them and that is why i have one cousin that is failing and has a baby, another cousin that is pregnant and doesn't know who the father is, 2 gay aunts, and an aunt that doesn't really believe in god. it's a problem that we can't stop unfortunantly.

Painting with a broad brush? It is unfortunate that people in your family have decided to call themselves one thing while being something totally different......hypocrites. Hypocrisy is one of the biggest issues confronting the Christians today. Why be a Christian when this guy over here is telling me I cannot do this or that, while he is doing this and that. The Bible warns of this specifically, and yet from preachers down, it is ignored. Meanwhile, those people who really are Christians and are living a humble life, have just that much more to contend with. The other problem seems to be Tithe. Why tithe when so many people are suffering, and the church is keeping it . The question is, what are the churches doing with the tithes. Different churches and denominations do different things with it. Some denominations actually have every, yes every, single transaction accounted for and open to those who ask. Sadly, hypocrisy exists here as well. The Bible does say that each person tithe at 10% of their income, but God only wants those who are cheerful givers. If you are not cheerful, see hypocrisy in the church, then do not give. It is not a sin. If, however you are at a church that is living up to what God REALLY does want, then you will probably be happy and want to tithe. God wants you, but only when it is something that you want to do, just like tithe. It is your choice.

I've met plenty of good Christians. My aunt and uncle are the first to come to mind. They're wonderful people. But I've also met a whole lot of rotten Christians, the "holier than though" type you're talking about.
The idea that simply being a Christian makes you a good person is comical. Throughout history, Christians have been responsible for some of the most unforgivable and heinous atrocities mankind has ever seen. It seems the more judgmental they are, the more wretched they are.
But they're not all bad. I think the problem is, we don't hear about the good Christians nearly as often because they tend to be more accepting of others and far less vocal than the Hellfire types.

Unfortunately, many folks confuse religion with spirituality. Your "holier than though" family may be very religious, which binds them to rules and beliefs never taught by Jesus. This "law abiding" nature is actually condemned by Him. Jesus hung with the sinners for they are the ones in need of hope. They are the ones He sought to love and redeem. Take a look at the true Jesus path (the New Testament)and you'll know what Christianity is really all about. Also check out Donald MIller's "Blue Like Jazz-non-religous thoughts on Christian spirituallity" and "In search of God Knows What" Please don't condemn us all for the acts of the confused!! God Bless

What you have to know is the fact that all that say they are Christians are not. Only the ones that have truly believed and trusted in what the Lord Jesus Christ did on the cross, He died for the heathens, He was buried and took their sins away. and He rose again the third day for their justification. 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15: 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

That is a bit harsh but I understand where you're coming from. I am an atheist and I have seen how hypocritical a lot of Christian people are. However, I have met a few truly good people who happen to be Christians. They are out there, they are just hard to find sometimes.

Nope, not you. Not most of the time, anyway.
Whenever someone troubles to introduce themselves to me as a Christian, I immediately cover up my private parts and my wallet. With an opening line like that they have to be going for one or the other, or both.
We asked the door to door Christians to not stop at our home, we are happy with our lives, attend to our chosen charitable activities, support the neighbor kids college book fees, mind our own business, etc. In retaliation, one of the young men busted my dining room window with a copy of the upper room.
So, no it's not you.

You can't generalize all people of a certain religion/race, etc into categories. So maybe your family is like that but not all Christians are. Hope that helps.

I agree some are phony and wicked, but not the majority. You just have to meet some true ones. And remember everyone makes mistakes whether the person is christian, muslim, atheist, or anything. We are only human.

Teehee. It is you. No, there are people who purportedly are Christians but are not much like Christ would have wanted. But there are good and bad in all groups, so that is no proof of anything. You have to take people as individuals, and not by group affiliation.
