it can mean two things. it's either "love" or "expensive". in some cases, love CAN be expensive. lol!

I believe it means, "love". "Mahal Kita" means "I love you", but I understand that way of saying it is not very common (for some reason).

"mahal" >> love or expensive. It depends on what it pertains to.

"MAHAL kita!" (i LOVE you)
" Ang MAHAL ng gasolina!" ( The gasoline is EXPENSIVE!")

here are a few examples.
