Looks like he has you fully trained. Don't feed him until you know he is hungry and willing to respond to you. It will be a good start in getting him to realize that you are the leader of his pack.

I do not understand are you getting him up while he is taking a nap? It doesn't matter if he likes a leash, put a soft harness that goes around the chest and attach the leash then make him go out. When he goes outside tell him good dog and pat him or give him a treat the first time or two. Most dogs love to go outside for a walk. Usually dogs love to be with people anywhere they go. Give a lot of positive reinforcement, treats to start and just "good dog" later. Never hit or kick a dog. I have trained three of my own dogs very stubborn dachshunds, always with treats and praise.

Obviously this dog is in charge and not you. It should be the other way around. You'll have to get him used to the leash. Most dogs don't like it at first but you'll just have to be persistent and keep putting it on him and take him outside. Never let the dog go out the door ahead of you. You should always go out first to remain dominant. My pup wouldn't walk outside on the leash, he would just park his butt. I started walking him on leash around the house and in a couple of days he was ok outside.
As soon as he wakes up take him outside and if you have success keep taking him back to the same spot as he'll pick up his scent and go there again. There are also sprays you can buy that encourage them to use a certain spot. Good Luck.

Most people that have puppies want to keep them in the house, and a very popular question for most is, How do I train my dog to go outside to use the bathroom?
When you get your puppy, go straight to Wal-Mart or any other store that sells puppy pads, these are great to house break dogs, the dog virtually trains itself. Start by taking the dog to the pad and showing him where it is at, and depending on the age of the puppy, keep the pad close to him. When he starts going to the pad himself start moving the pad closer to the door you want him to go too when he has to use the bathroom. Eventually with time and patients, your puppy will go to the door and scratch or give you some type of obvious sign that he has to go outside. Also, when your puppy is small, it is very important that when the puppy wakes up, eats, or drinks, that you immediately take him to his pad or outside, you might have to walk around for a few minutes with him, but trust me, he will use the bathroom. Don't take your dogs nose and shove it in anything, all your doing is making your dog stink, your parents didn't do you that way, and dogs are very smart, just have a little patience.

Hi, At first I used a pee pee pad for my dogs. Then I changed that to going out side. If the dog doesn't want you to pick it up, do it anyway. Get a chain and a thing for the yard. Put your dog on the chain instead and let him out the door. You have to keep after them, and show them that your the boss. Some people use a bell by the door, and they ring it when they want the dog to go out.
From the on set of eating until they are done, about 15 to 20 minutes, put your dog out. When they first wake up, put your dog out. Stick there nose in their own pee or poop, they don't like that. But only if you catch them in the act. If they did something about two hours ago, they forget they did it, and won't know what they are being punished for. If you have a cage or crate, put the dog in that, then take them out only for potty time, until they get the idea, that unless they go potty outside they won't be able to come out of the crate. I also did that with mine. Put her in the cage for a half hour, took her out to go potty, then put her back in. Did this for about two days for mine, now depending on the dog, and how stubborn they are, it could take longer.
Hope this helped you out some, and have a nice night.

It doesn't matter if he doesn't like a leash. Drag him by a leash or collar and force him outside! Later, you might want to buy one of those head cones that dogs wear after surgeries and when you are in a situation like this, put the cone on him so he can't bit you, and pick him up or drag him by the collar to go out. Eventually, he will learn to go out. Also, be sure to reward him each time he goes something outside. Something healthy, like a carrot.

dogs are like people. you have to go when you just get up, take the dog out. babies poop right after they eat. dog eats, take the dog out.
reward the dog for going outside with a treat or small piece of cheese - not too much though, you don't want him getting fat!
you need to get the dog used to the leash. every day take him for a walk, a long one.

I would put a harnis on the dog that way you can safly drag him out side. Do you have a fence? That would help to get him to go.
Also for over time I would put him on his side and every time he moves tell him in a ferm voice NO. When he submits and lays there for about a minite then you can leave him up and tell him good boy. Do this every day. Dog are a pac animal and need to know how is boss. It sounds like your dog thinks he is boss.

Use the leash and take him out. Whether he likes it or not is not the issue.
He needs to know you are the master or mistress and you are in control. He should be taken out at regular times during the day such as 8am, 12am, 4pm and 8pm or the like especially immediately after eating.
Dont let your dog take control over you. Assert yourself and become the Alpha of your group.

It's just a matter of repetition...every time he does his business indoors, take the poop and him outside. After a while he should catch on to it. The age shouldn't have much to do with it. It is a matter of intelligence.
After you get outside, or just before you go out the door, say something like "go to the bathroom", or "do your business", whatever you like for a "go to the bathroom" command. He should get it within the first month...or two

You seriously need a fenced yard. My dog is the same way, and won't go while on the leash. Even if she explodes. There's not much you can do but let her wander until she gets it out of her system.
And remember,...
You can lead a dog to grass, but you can't make him poop!
