I have to get a canine pulled and then get braces. I could care less about the braces, but I'm really freaked out over the tooth thing. Does it hurt when they give you novacaine and when they're actually talking the tooth out?

They are suppose to give you a novacaine weatherthe tooth (teeth) are loose or not. I have braces and they took it off while I had them on. They had to take out 2 canines 1 was loose 1 wasnt. The one that was loose didn't hurt. The one that wasn't hurt for a few days.

i wish i could tell you it doesn't hurt, but that's a tricky one as each person is different. my ex boyfriend had his wisdom teeth pulled in the dentist chair, and went straight back to work, but i had 4 wisdom teeth pulled when i was under anesthetic at the hospital and took a week to recover. i have also had a rear molar pulled that was infected and that was NOT fun. i think it was so painful because it was badly infected, otherwise, the novacaine or whatever they give you should make things ok for you. it sucks, but hey, it's part of life. you'll totally appreciate having braces once they're off.

no not at all if you are at a good dentist that hasn't hurt you before and you trust. depends how bad the roots are and which tooth too but i have had a few pulled and my mom is a dentist so i kinda know a lot about some of this stuff and really it doesn't hurt that bad seriously! oh yah and with the shots and stuff they hurt a little but really it goes blank and then there is the jelly stuff that one person said that they rub it they rub it with numbing stuff and the shot makes all feeling go awat and you will be numb for a couple hours or days

If you have a good dentist, the pain is minimal. The novocaine shot burns a little, but then it numbs your mouth. You won't feel much of anything when the tooth is pulled, just a bit of pressure. Afterwards, it may hurt a bit, but nothing really awful. Discomfort more than pain. You can handle it.

No when they insert the novacaine it may hurt a bit but not so much. Then the tooth will come out and you won't even know it.

No, I had three teeth pulled out all at the same time before I got braces when I was about 12 or 13. It wasn't one of the most pleasant experiences of my life, but it didn't hurt.

What a dentist does is swab the area to numb the surface, inject one or several novocaine needles into you, and pulls the tooth. From what I here it can hurt when they pull (it's fairly common) but if you are numbed properly and have a good dentist it should just feel like alot of pressure. If it's more then one or two teeth you can also ask your dentist for nitrous oxide or else ask to be refered to one who has that available.

My dentist usually rubs the area where he is going to put the Novocaine with a swab to deaden the area. The shots will pinch but then when it starts to deaden the area its not so bad. Don't be scared. Its over pretty quick. Try not to think about it. Good luck
