Go get your diploma or GED. It is very difficult to get through life without a high school education and get yourself a job you love, unless you love fast food or other unskilled labor. Otherwise, babysit or make your own job.

If you are 25 or older then you don't need highschool. Did you know that you can still get into university without your GED? Check into qualifying to be a mature status student. Yes it is hard without your GED, but even with it you won't get any jobs that are much better than flipping burgers. I would hire someone who had some university over someone who had their GED in a heart beat, and I hire people for a retail store. You may have to do a year in college taking courses to catch up, but it's worth it. Don't let the decisions you made as a teenager determine your future. Even if you think that you don't qualify, go to your local campus and ask to speak to an academic advisor, they will tell you your options and the steps you have to take. good luck!

I can't say much about Toronto. But I can say that, yes, there are places/companies that are willing to employ good workers. First of all, what do you like to do? What are your interest? Do you mind working in retail, manufacturing, customer service, hospitality, any interests in selling, etc? Knowing what you like, that's the first step.

After that, list down the companies you would like to be employed. For example, say you like providing customer service in retail, you can do some research by visiting them and talk to their employees. Or, go to the library and employement agencies to look up Canada Top 100 Best Companies to work for.

Remember, never give up. Looking for a full time job requires full time work. Send out as many resumes as you can. Just keep on trying and trying until you succeed. In my mind, I have no doubt you will find a job you would like.

yes there are. check with your state employment service or their website. most of the ones i've seen have info on what fields are hot / have growth potential and education requirements for that field.

healthcare seems to be the field with the most job demand. lots of nursing homes/ hospitals and healthcare temp agencies offer on the job training for home health aide & certified nursing asst positions. depending on the state, you may not need hs degree.

you may even qualify for funding for further training to upgrade your position once you've worked for them awhile. my sis is a cna
at a hospital. soon she will qualify for training to become an registered nurse & the hospital will foot the bill as long as she agrees to stay on for at least 5 yrs.

you can also check to see if employment services offers grants for career training. when i was an employment counselor i found quite a few programs that offered dual study programs to get your ged and career training. some community colleges offer this type of program as well.

by the way don't count mickey d's out.- especially if you really need a job. they as well as other fastfood chains (chick fil a & burger king,4 sure) offer mgt training and franchise ownership opportunities.

for info on different fields check out this career information link from my states employment services site. although the education requirements and salary may be different in your state, it will give you some general info on various fields & the occupations in each:

Start up your own business or move to a smaller town.
It's to bad that more businesses don't hire people without high school diplomas, they tend to be smarter and harder working than University grads.

" Let's see,you didn't have it in you to stay in school-but you want me to believe you would stick with a job I give you? " That was the thought I always had when I hired people.I may not have said it,but I didn't hire them.At least get your GED.Otherwise, look forward to flipping burgers, picking up trash,or cleaning out sewage drains.
