Actually, if he is within a certain amount of feet of your school, he can't pass anything out. Its the same reason why you never see ice cream trucks parked in front of schools, or any other advertisers with handouts of some sort.
But this is only if your in the U.S.A. - talk to your principle and see if they can actually call the cops or escort them away peacefully. If you aren't in the U.S.A., you have to check your local law.
My school had a similar problem when a new church moved into town and wanted to recruit all us "poor lost inner city kids" with free after school lunches during a "conditioning" program. Our principle came out and told them that it had nothing to do with religion but you nor anyone else can't distribute anything - bibles, flyers, cds - withing ____ feet of a school. The came back and the cops were called. We never saw them around our school again.

The street may be public property, but there may be some guidelines as for being in front of a public school. I'd ask your principal or teachers about that.
However, if I were in your shoes, I would take what he's offering just once and read it over. This way you can honestly say you read through his material and if you still don't agree with it, it is your perrogative not to. Plus, you will then be able to make an educated response to anything he might say to you and he will be less likely to offer it to you again.
Keep in mind he is probably not trying to harrass you, but in all likelihood is doing what he thinks of as trying to help you.
The best recommendation I can make is to be kind and respectful to him, and expect him to respond in the same. He will also probably be more likely to leave you alone. If he is rude or harrassing to you after that, you would have a more legitimate reason to report him to the school or to authorities and receive the kind of response you are looking for.
Best wishes.

That pesky first amendment to the Constitution. What is up with all that right to free assembly and stuff? It is not against the law for anyone to peacefully assemble, whether in a park, a sidewalk, or even the front of a public school. People need to just get over it. Our freedom was bought with the blood of Patriots who defend our right to do these things. It wasn't cheap. You should value the right, not despise it.
Btw, the Constitution does NOT state you don't have the right not to be offended. Put up with him, ignore him, or go home another way.

Ignore him. Freedom of speech is a two way street sweetheart.
You can tell him to piss off as is your right, but that probably won't work and will only make him more inclined to "save" you. So you're best bet is to ignore him. And you're only offended if you want to be. That's your problem, not his. And yes, it's really that easy not to be offended. People don't give themselves enough credit (or perhaps it's an excuse for drama) by saying they can't help how they feel.
Don't be one of those people who bitches just because the "in god we trust" is on the dollar. It's not becoming, and is trivial, as is the man with the bibles. Let him waste his time. It's not hurting you.
Don't spit on him. It's not within your right to freedom of speech and you might get in trouble for it. And don't bother with the school, there's nothing they can do.

Why do you need to get rid of him? If you don't want to listen; simply ignore him. If he begins harassing people physically or verablly ( i.e. insulting those who do not heed his words ) then you can call the police and inform the administrators at your school.
However, it would be best, in my opinion, if you simply let him be. For all you know... his little book may change someone's life. How much damage is he really doing trying to preach what he believes in?

Just take one say thank you and go on your way. So what if your read it or even care what is about, all you did was hummer him. No big deal.
Don't let yourself be offended you have plenty of time in life for that to happen to you over much bigger things.
Besides what is the worst thing that happen the person actually be friendly to you. No harm, no foul.

act like you're possesed by a demon or something. go complain to school security (if you've got any). you could dress up weird too. i would suggest going to the police, but i don't think that would work since they're a peaceful gathering.

He's within his rights to hand out anything he likes. You're within your rights not to take what he's offering. Like you said. It's public property.

Leave him alone. He is merely exercising his rights. A day will come, rest assured, that you will be exercising yours much to the chagrin of others and you will not want to be bothered about it.
