Really superficial, if any.

Most of their knowledge is based on non Hindu proselytising sites. There is no dogma in Hinduism. They think it does not know what it is saying, if it is not forcing its beliefs.

Mostly they just read Mythological bits here and there. Few read anything beyond mythological stories.

Hindu will tell stories about Gods but would not take those literally. These stories are metamorphical and symbolic. It is just beyond their understanding that Hindus read Puranas for fun. Not as essential books.

While the teachings and disscussions in religious books like Vedas and Upanishdas are at totally different level.

Desert religions are based on stories told in OT or New Testament or Bible. So they assume Hinduism is also based on Tales of gods.

They are one book religions themselves, so it also makes it beyond their reasoning that Hinduism keeps disscussinmg God in every way possible.

Hinduism is definitely older than each and every of the present accessible religions. it really is definetly older than Judaism. Yes, I am a christian and have had hindu friends, I have even watched a few hindu programmes on tv; the religion is very intersting to learn, so many good stories; but very hard to beleive in. They beleive in too many gods and it is hard to keep a count of them all. I also know that there is a power struggle among their gods as to who is the greatest. Original hindus are vegetarians, and despise eating beef totally; but nowadays they have progressed to eating non vegetarian foods with the exception of cow meat.

I've learned a little bit on hinduism but I don't know everything about the religion. I was raised Christian but I still believe that one should explore other religions and learn something from them to help better understand their own beliefs. For instance I have learned alot from buddhism, (mainly engaged buddhism), which has given me a different understanding and viewpoint on christianity.
