Marriage is a commitment physical, emotional, and mental to each other. It is an ultimate commitment and even though sex is more casual today than it ever has been marriage used to be the point where the couple would consummate their relationship in intimate sexual bonding symbolic of the two persons becoming ONE. No matter your age you both need to be able to share your expectations with each other and be comfortable with those expectations. If Marriage is that next step then both you and her will be together in your expectations. The amount of time you dated has nothing to do with it as it's more a question of whether or not you both are mentally and emotionally ready for that step. As far as the deaths of your father and hers that should not be a factor either but any loss of a family member is always traumatic in that a piece of you dies wth them, that love you have for them. It's a very tough and important question and step to take so be sure in your own mind if it's what you want to do and don't turn that decision process over to the Internet and people you don't know and that don't know you and your love. That's my opinion.. Good luck.

Marriage is an antiquated institution...don't bother unless you are a very religious person and you feel its in your beliefs and it is required to reach spiritual enlightment. I guess there might be some financial benefits but I am not sure it is really a plus there...the wedding and all that goes with it is a huge expense...if things don't work out then it is another huge disappointment with legal precedings attached and money exchanging hands. My opinion is keep life simple there are already enough hurdles to jump...you can live a long happy life with a women without being married...I just don't get the point
