Conditioner is not bad for your hair. It could clog if you use too much, but most importantly is the kind you use. The biggest problem with cheap conditioners is build up- when your hair starts getting heavy and dull, there are literally layers of crud on your hair, and this problem could also translate to clogged follicles.
The best thing to do is get your hair care at a salon, not a walmart. It's more expensive, but you WILL notice a difference. I'm a product junkie, and I've tried all kinds of shampoos and conditioners, and the very best I can find is Biolage. Pick the right one for your hair type, and you're good to go.
If you aren't willing to spend the money on a good daily shampoo and conditioner, you should spend the $8 on a "Clarifying" shampoo in a salon. This is to be used no more than once every 3 weeks, I use mine once a month. It removes build up, and it can also clean the scalp really well if you're worried about clogged follicles. Good luck!

Generally Conditioner is good. It is very important to use what your hair needs. If you have natural, basically healthy hair, you may only need a light water based conditioner(if you need anything at all). If your hair is naturally dry or sun damaged...you need moisturizing conditioner. If your hair is chemically processed ....you will need to replace the protein with a protein conditioner. Oil based treatments or conditioners are never a good idea as they serve no advantage and generally add weight to your hair. (which makes it lifeless.)If you don't know what you need next time you get a cut be sure to ask...advice should be free!!Anita
P.S> If your hair is dull looking it is probably from build up. Sometimes just one or two shampoos with a new product will strip that build up away and bring back the shine.

Clog your follicles??? No, it coats them. They make very light conditioners if you want something that isn't heavy. Try Rusk Deep Shine Conditioner.

thats a rumor. you should condition at least once a week, but don't apply it to your roots. start at the bottom of your hair and work your way up. for the best efficiency let it soak in for about 2 minutes and then rinse.

good luck withyour hair!

Depends on your hair-I have curly hair and I could not comb my hair without it. I imagine that straight hair would not need it as often or as much.
