I believe in God.
And by 'God', I mean the notion that Pikachu was the coolest Pokemon.
It's an interesting word game you've got goin' on, but it doesn't change the fact that atheists don't believe in God.
I do fully agree that we should strive to know everything, strive to be perfectly good and just, strive for infinite beauty in life. I believe that, personally, my atheism inspires me to do that and compels me to do that. That's where I get my strength from. But I don't condemn anyone on a similar journey who happent to have a god-concept. They're fellow-travellers too, and many, many theists are very different from the picture that you paint in your question. Also I have met selfless atheists. You and I are on the same page here, but you're generalising where you shouldn't.
The only exception I would make - and the only place where I can really unconditionally agree with you - is that I'm not sure if a theist can ever behave in a truly altruistic way if his/her behaviour is necessarily contingent upon his or her _personal_ salvation in the afterlife. There is an implied selfishness there that unfortunately seems endemic to the religion.
Peace.

God says that many will do evil in his name, but they are not doing his will. Someone can call themself a Christian, but if they are not practicing the will of God then they are making themselves out to look like liars. Atheists do not believe that their is a God so how can they believe in God. That statement do not make any sense. All Christians should strive to be just and good that is what being a Christian is about.

i disagree with the idea that we should strive to know everything, since that would be more than we have the ability to do. But i really like your idea of striving to be just and good, and finding infinite beauty in life. Both atheists and believers in the divine ought to be able to agree on this.

I feel that many die-hard , are completely ignorant. They know ONLY what they are taught, and strive to know ONLY that. I feel that's an advantage of athiests.
I was a born and raised Catholic. I used to praise god, but after an incident which resulted in my 11 year old friend dying in my arms, I questioned God, and religion. Not wanting to completely lose faith, I researched MANY religion. Buddhism, Muslim, Christianity, Jewish, Scientoloy, I studied them all.
However, they all seemed to be brainwashed in my eyes, so I chose Athiest. I didn't want to put myself into the position where my sole goal in life is to convert people to my religion, and tell them how bad their lives will be if they don't follow my beliefs.
I see life MUCH differently. I see life for what it really is, and I don't sit there and say that God made it, so I should praise him. I praise life for what it is. I praise a tree for being a tree, not for who or what made it.

You must be referring to what Steven Hawking refers to as "seeing into the eye of God" (knowing all of the answers to the mysteries of the universe). If this is what you mean, then yes, as an atheist-I believe that we will be much closer to this knowledge "god" than anyone with their closed minds stuck in a 2000 year old fairy tale.
If there is an intellegent design to our universe, I believe that either A: It does not know that we exist or B: It knows we exist and doesn't give a rat's *** about what is going on here.

If you believe in a higher power, then you're not an atheist, you're an agnostic. Atheists do not believe in any god, God, or higher power. So you don't make sense in your statement.
If you're suggesting getting rid of all organized religion and focus on just 'good citizens' and such, the world's had that - it's called Russia. They not doin' so good with it anymore, are they?

Don't understand your question. I want to say Atheist do not believe in God. I am a Christian and believe in God , the only God the father. who created the heavens and the earth, sent Jesus Christ to earth and saved all sinners. To trust in God accepting Jesus as your savior you are saved from Hell.

An atheist, by definition, does not believe in God, no matter what you define that God to be. If you define God as you did above, and you believe in that, than by your definitions, you have ceased to be an atheist and have become a theist.

Sassy, another example of 'christians' trying to twist logic. I believe that there is no god, therefore I deny he exists. How can that be construed as accepting there is a god?
