I just had the dog spayed friday and she has been whining since she jumped from a chair this afternoon. She didn't rip anything.

Hi! I've always given (and by advice of vet) to give 1/2 of a children's baby aspirin, chewable to small dogs.I have a Shih-Tzu and that's what I do.Just put it in a cookie or a bit of food.Works great!

anything that would mess with a human liver I would not give to a animal. without vet advice

A lot of medications given by the vet is the same med's given to humans just in smaller forms.

if advil is all you have and I would not make a habbit out of this a children's dose should be o.k. for today only

If you can get to the store that would even be better. Just remember whatever messes with our liver can mess with a dog's twice as much and it's stomach also

good luck

My vet says a baby aspirin should help, but I would not give more than half. It seems to work for my artheritic Border Collie. But, no advil, it is dangerous.

The jump from the chair worries me, she could have torn something inside. Did the vet give you anything for pain. Mine gave me Rimadyl for each of my girls when they were spayed. Best to call them just to be safe.

A 10lb dog can take 40 mg of aspirin. That is 1/2 of a baby aspirin or a low-dose aspirin.

My vet gave me meds for my dogs. I wouldn't give them anything. Its best to contact the vet. You don't want her feeling too good that she jumps around anymore. She should lay still and do take her to the vet to be checked.

I heard a baby aspirin is fine but different dogs may require different strengths of aspirin.
Talk to a vet about your 10lb dog and see if it is safe.

NO YOU CAN"T!!...Half an aspirin only. As far as I'm told aleve and advil are not good for dogs. But half an aspirin ONLY!

What sort of pain is it? I have heard not to give tylenol or ibuprofen. Perhaps a baby aspirin would be more appropiate.
