It depends. "Going outside" isn't going to make your cold worse, so if you're feeling up to going out for a walk, by all means, do it. You do need rest, but sometimes getting some fresh air, and getting your blood pumping a little can actually make you feel better. I wouldn't run or do anything really vigorous until you're back to normal. If you have a fever >100 F however, it would be best to rest and heal.

I always listen to my body.
If I feel unusually tired i take it easy- the body needs its resources to fight infections. On the other hand if I feel restless I let myself do things- prehaps it helps the circulation to clear out residues at the end of an illness.
Basically our bodies have been dealing with colds a long time ,and they know what they need, whatever beliefs people may have.

I say do what you can. Exercising releases endorphins which should get you feeling better quicker. So you may not be able to run as hard since breathing may be difficult, but if you can get your heart rate up it may make your cold shorter.
I've heard if you're sick from the neck up exercise, if you're sick from the neck down, don't.
No a M.D. here though

as you have said, you have got a bad cold, why do you still think of exercises? why not take your time in resting, when you think you are already in good condition you can go back with your daily routine then!! bad cold is already bad enough so don't make it worse then.

I would do a mild work out at home. So that you will not get anymore germs being outside in the cold.

You'll get worse, you need to rest and let your body use it's resources to fight the cold instead of cope with your exercising.

when you have a cold your immune system is lower than its normal level which could trigger another type of cold or sickness. its advised to rest when you have a cold to build your immune system back up to where it belongs.

No! Your body needs to use it's energy to get better. It's just a few days, man.
