I commend you for giving your Mom credit even though she did not do as well as she might have done had there been an intervention such as what is done on the wife swap show. I'm 45 and my 78 yr old Mom passed away last year. The fact is, they (our parents) do the best they can with the tools that were given to them by their own parents. It sounds like you already know that. Your Mom did the best she could and now it is up to you to move on and improve on what she did. For instance, there is my Dad. My Dad grew up in a home where his father, my grandfather obviously, beat his wife. Often when a son sees this sort of behavior, he goes on to beat his own wife. My father never did that. In fact, when he was 20 yrs old and had just got back from military training in the Navy for World War II, he came home on leave. His father hit his mother during an argument. My father decked him and told him that if he ever did it again he'd kill him. My grandfather never touched my grandmother again. And he definitely never hit my mother. Life is what you make of it no matter how your parents screw up. My Dad did it and so can you. Move beyond your past and be a good person.

I think your mom solves problems the best way she knows how...and you are being an ungrateful little twit!All I can say is...I wish I could be on "Wife Swap" with her...You need some lesssons in respect,buddy!I would be mortified if I found out my children were talking crap about me....but,yet,I have to have faith that they have more respect for me than that...You go,right now,and hug her and tell her you appreciate what she does for you!
