Okay, it's not really a matter of "bending over," as it is a matter of following the motion of the horse. Trying to guess when the horse is going to take off will inevitably throw you and the horse off balance. If you take off before the horse does, you'll be on the neck, or worse on the ground if the horse says, "hey, you jumped too soon, I can't take off now," and stops.

>Look beyond the jump. Always keep your eyes up and looking at the straight path that you will maintain.

>Ride one rhythm. You are the pace keeper, keep a good pace. Not too fast, not too slow, try to march.

>"chase the neck" pretty easy, try it at the canter, and then when you're jumping, just alow your hands to follow through so that you don't bump your pony in the mouth.

Think of closing the hip angle as a means of following the motion. But don't think of any of it too much. It's supposed to be fun & it takes time to develope a feel, so, one rhythm, heals down, eyes up, have fun.

You don't really bend over. ( It's called jumping ahead, and is a cardnial sin in riding)
Unless you are jumping high fences (more than 3 ft) your body should stay in two point. When you watch people jump, it looks like they bend forward, but it's just the horses neck coming towards them. If you stay in two point, and you have good balance, you'll find that bending over will only hinder you and your horse. Work on your balance, do a lot of no stirrup work and two point, and if you are advanced enough jumping (low fences) stirrup-less.

i'd verify with your coach and teach your interest in leaping. tell him/ her that you somewhat opt to attempt leaping and ask in case you could start studying the basics inclusive of two element and releases. i does no longer say that element is somewhat the right thanks to degree how lengthy you're able to attend until eventually you could bounce. that is extra about adventure and in case your coach feels that that is probability-free that you'll bounce. because you're cantering circles now i'd say that you're going to then flow onto cantering on the rail, then doing w/t/c over poles in 2 element, and then commence to do precisely somewhat leaping. i'm no longer certain once you've get proper of entry to to a horse outside of instructions yet i'd artwork on dropping and choosing up your stirrups at a walk, trot, and canter ( once you sense waiting ), operating your palms up and down the horses neck to coach a launch, and somewhat pushing those heels down. Your heels help your weight in 2 element and are your anchor. i'd also ask your coach or father and mother in case you may want to come watch leaping lesson so that you may want to ascertain what different riders are doing... ordinary i imagine that is about the safe practices and your adventure. i do not opt to sound like a secure practices patrol yet you want to be waiting adventure sensible as a way to a have a probability-free vacation over your first bounce. you do not opt to free your self assurance back. strong success! i am hoping you get to bounce quickly!

aihlie could'nt given a better answer, her tips are excellent! I would like to add that it may help if your instructor builds jumping exercises with well-defined distances so you can develop a "feeling" for them while counting your strides. The idea is to keep them low and keep you in your "comfort zone" untill you get the hang of it.
