Ok, I asked the question "Where was God before Heaven?" And all these answers have me curious now...

If God created EVERYTHING, then He created Heaven, right? Didn't God also create "everything" and also create "nothing"? So how could He exist before nothing? It doesn't make any sense, and I don't think anyone is going to give me a good answer*.

I am an atheist but I'm not trying to flame religion. I know, I know...you may all gasp now :) I am just trying to get a better understanding of what people believe about God.

*Note: Good answers aren't "go read the bible" or "have faith" or "I don't know" or things of that nature.

God created everything including Heaven. Noone knows where He was before time. It says in the Bible that he is the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the end. He was here before time. Its very hard to understand that. Even i have trouble with that and i am a Christian. I just have to believe that he is God. The God who made me who I am and the God who loved me so much that He sent his only Son to die on the cross for my sins...He loves you too. Even though you dont believe in Him he believes in you! and he loves you no matter what. Hopefully you will change your mind about your religious choices. If you have any questions for me feel free to ask. If i dont know the answer i will get it for you. And you said that "Read the Bible" isnt a good enough answer but thats the only place you will find the answer. its the book of truth. eventhough it was penned by man it was infuenced by God. Those are his words on those pages, and His words are the truth.

I am not an atheist and not a religous too but the question is very logical and it might be very hard for me to answer.Philosophically, natural science must explain how the world was created but the existence of the God was never been discussed, that is why I have a lot of question too that never been answered but by the book of genesis!Man's religious belief came up with the ancient people history and testimony and as they say prophets wrote the bible based on the experiences they got as they talk to GOD and meet Jesus then followed his life and the christianism was born(there is nothing wrong if we believe in GOD,it help us giving value to our life) I respect everyones different belief as well as we thank you for giving respect to us!Your question has no definite answer because everyone has limited knowledge about the theory of the beginning of everything out of nothing!

Well I think you have to trust that God was here the whole time. If you believe that and do the things God intended you to do you will be able to live in heaven, which I believe was created by God. Also the reason we are living I think is to prove to God that we are worthy to live in heaven. We have to abide by the 10 commandments that he gave Moses. This to me is proof that there was nothing before. I also think that your not an antheist. You just dont understand it all right now. We are all born with a love in our hearts for God. Just sometimes we dont choose the best judgements. I understand that its hard to love without knowing, but that is where faith comes into play. Start praying and everything will turn out. When no one is there.....he is. In your hardest times here on earth he will always be there for you. All you have to do is talk to him.

Imagine a circle, then that circle broke into two circle and so on. forming fractal like infinite of circles and those circles wanted to experience things. They brought the experience to the first circle and it was absorbed. Now the many circles have plenty of ideas on what to create and experience and they had lots of fun. The problem was some circles never got bored of leaving the first circle and thats all they saw their existance as. They never knew they could create new places to experience and have others experience. Well here on earth some people's reality might carry on with them. If I beleive I was a victim here...then would I still have that belief after I died..I could not change anything or create anything. What if I had a same belief as another and knowing and understanding magnetism and that like attracts like, I would believe I would go and experience a place where I could create again. Well hell would be definately a place if you wanted to control people or induced fear in people. You would be surrounded by likes. Birds of a feather ..hmm..Why do we all crave this place called home....where you are understood and have complete creative control of you lives. I have nothing else to say but curiosity killed the ignorance

Calling your own self an atheist, would mean that you are implying in the existence of a God, and yet claiming that you do not believe in God. Someone else who believes in God can call you an atheist, however a non-believer can never call themselves an atheist.

When you picture God, you have to picture nothing. Because that is God's true Identity "Nothing", God is perfect, to picture God mentally would give this entity a shape, which would make this entity imperfect.

Hence God is Pure Nothingness. From this nothingness came everything in existence. Before you were born you were nothing, look at you now.

Heaven is a tricky subject. I believe that God created all that is in this realm (anything physical), the Earth, planets, etc. I also have a different veiw of what heaven might be. I think that God didn't create heaven, that heaven is simply being in the presence of God, which is why if we are close to God, we are close to heaven and can have peace and esctacy on earth. It's why the saints were so happy even when they were being martyred, they were close to God and that's all they could see. It enveloped them, it's all that mattered.

Stanley, I think that "God created the heavens and the earth" is more literal in Genesis, they are talking about the skies and stars I think.

Spike, you are right that their are a lot of religious hypocrites out there, but I think that religious people are immediately judged on their actions. They are held to a higher standard because of their religion. Everyone fails their standards, we are human. The point of being a Christian (in my case) is getting back up and not letting our failures defeat us, Satan's greatest victory is when we admit defeat and allow our guilt and shame to overcome instead standing back up and trying again.

Ok what you firstly need to understand is that God exists outside of time and space, and he was never created, he was always here. It will boggle your mind because we exist in time and space, and that is all we know. But remember just because it is all we know doesn't mean its absolute truth. Ok, now what you need to understand is that yes God created heaven, but Heaven is basically wherever God is, for example your shadow, you didn't physically create your shadow, but your shadow is wherever you are. And God did create everything, but nothing is the absense of something...you following...for example God created light....correct.....so you would think that God created darkness as well.....WRONG. Darkness is the absence of light, just like Sin, many people believe God created Sin, he didn't. The bible says that "Anything less than good is sin..." So what it is saying is that when you don't do good your sinning, so sin is the absensce of good, God created the "good", but because one becomes deficient in "good" they then create sin.

I hope I answered your question

ok... now god created himself out of nothing and created everything afterwards. if you think this makes no sense then look at the "big bang" theory. ok the world was created by a huge explosion but what created this explosion? it doesn't fit together at all. the only thing that seperates these theories is that the bible admits that it requires faith but everything is explainable in science so how do you explain what the start of the universe was like, and how did that come to be?

"Nothing" is not something which could be created. There was never nothing, because something cannot come from nothing. Therefore, many believe there is God, who was and is and is to come. There never was a time when he wasn't. This is hard for us to grasp because eternality is completely outside of our experience. We have only experienced that which has a beginning. Yet it only makes since that there had to be at least one thing which always existed, since something cannot be created out of nothing.

Since we have such an intelligent design, why not prefer that that something which always existed was God. How he existed is beyond our experience.

You say you are an atheist, but I sence that you lack real conviction as an atheist. I highly recommend that you read the book "The Demon Haunted World" by Carl Sagan. After you finish it you will be a lot more comfortable in your atheism. You would no longer feel the need to ask all these questions about religion and God.
