for those who say I need to study the history of religions, I have. Have you studied any farther than your own church building?

Because they refuse to admit that the Catholic Church was the foundation of all Christian churches. The Catholic church existed centuries before any them. Like nasty brats they profane the very religion that bred them.
One does not have to be proud of their ancestors, but to deny they preceded you is wishful thinking.
As for the Catholic church being a cult...when did you fall off the
turnip truck? Haven't heard about any snake handlers, holy rollers, tongue talking or politicking Jesus Freaks at mass to date.
That's left to protestants.

Because of the various divisons and hatered and misinformation spread check out the Chic zines, properganda that is very ugly about Catholicism. They don't think we are Christians to them we are evil cult members of the whore of babylon. Sad because they don't know the truth and take the misinformation or hateful properganda as 'truth'. Historically the Catholic church was universal in Christianity, different churches around the ancient world. Orthodox churches are very similar as Roman Catholic churches, issues about the Pope split the church or was the first divison and the members of each group consider themselves the first church, actually both were the same church and it was divided in the what 3rd or 4 th centuries. Since Martin Luther many splits and divisons have occured and misunderstandings and false truths spread. Not all Protestants hate Catholics though, a smal branch considers us so evil and blah blah through the bible at us not knowing how much of our practices are biblically based no wonder the get all confused about Revelations when they have never heard a mass nor experienced the liturgy. About priests that have hurt children, it's not only Catholic priests. I personally know of Methodist and Penetcostal pastors that have molested children it's a evil through out humanity and Christianity not every one not everybody but it's not just one set of preachers, pastors, priests.

Thearthound - you are a close minded idiot.
Obviously you haven't taken any comparative religion or history of religion classes.
Now I believe the Roman Catholic church has done many terrible things in it's day, so have many other religions. Hopefully they have learned from their mistakes. But they do worship Jesus Christ - for better or worse.
There is not a dimes worth of difference between the hateful rantings of fundamentalist Christians & Islamic extemists. This is another example of religions goin awry.
Extremists of any sort are NOT a positive force. Look at the idiots in the USA who call themselves conservatives! Barry Goldwater - a true conservative - would roll over in his grave!

Most of the protestants don't know the difference. You probably mean the radical reformers like Baptist or Pentecostals. The main reasons they say that is because the Catholic church places obstacles between man and God. That would classify them as a cult. There is the problem of idolatry, confessions, indulgences, criminal cover-ups, the list is quiet large. That's not all, but that's as far as I will go.

I know what you mean. I'm Catholic and Ive heard this before.
They are indeed Christians. In fact they are the largest Christian Church around. How in the hell could they not be Christian???? Name one thing that would not make them Christian? Catholics believe in everything Jesus taught. Protestants came from the Catholic Church....

I'd like to know the answer to that one. I've seen several questions and answers in this forum asking about Catholics and Christians. Catholics are Christians. I was dumbfounded when I first saw those types of questions. It never occurred to me that people thought Catholics were not Christians.

I think most catholics are Christians. I'm not so sure about the priests, or the pope though. I use a catholic bible, for the reasons you give. But for me, it's not the messenger, it's the message. He has risen. Amen. nuf said.

I don't know why they say that, you can be a Christian and be Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist and so on. Christian means Little Christ. It's how we should act when we except Christ into our hearts and into our lives, it isn't about cutting people down or trying to show that we are smarter than they are, it's about how we walk our walk and would God our Father be proud of how we are walking.

Study 1200-1500 history of the church.
Catholocism started the crusades and got rich. political, and were too big.
So protestants broke away and King Henry helped by wanting five wives.
Catholic means universal and are very very rich because of dead indians, jews
cathars and protestants accused of being satanist witches, etc.
thought Hitler was bad? He was weak compared to the inquisition.

Show me in the Holy Bible, Catholics are Christians.
Jesus Christ's Church had no name. If it did, it was.
Chruch of God.
Church of Christ
Church of the Brethern
Church of the Believer's.
Jehovah Witness
Church of the Baptists.
Church of the Followers.
Church of the Pentacosts
Catholic is not mentioned ANYWHERE.
I'll show you many many many places, they are not doing Christ's teachings, and going against Christ's teachings.
What makes you think they are? What does a catholic do, to make them a Christian?
You show me in the Bible, where is says: The apostles were the First Bishops.
You show me in the Bible where it says> Peter was the First Pope.
YOU CAN'T. Thank You.
Your language testifies your catholic beliefs.
