Gives us an excuse to arm our allies?

The Korean War never officially ended. There was an armistice that ended the hostilities but never a peace treaty so technically the 1950s war is still on. I would suspect that the North Koreans know they do not have a chance to win any sort of modern war, especially since their country is so impoverished and isolated. It would seem that these missiles are more of a bargaining chip than anything else, but the possibility does exist that once the missiles are workable and armed with nuclear weapons that the North Koreans could see them as a way to blackmail the rest of the world into giving it what it wants, which would be very unfortunate indeed.

Perhaps the best way to deal with the problems posed by North Korea would be a preemptive strike on all its nuclear facilities, and in effect blow them back 20 years and wipe out their entire nuclear program. If they were so stupid as to launch a nuclear attack on anybody they could be wiped out in short order.

The UN is a useless, impotent, hotbed of corruption and scandal that has been ineffective in solving any sort of international crisis in 50 years. Any action to take out North Korea's nuclear capabilities will have to be outside the UN.

The stage is set.
World war three is here.
Were you aware that one year ago this month Iran, Syria and N. Korea were test firing missles in the middle east?
that the 12 apostles bodies washed out of the limestone graves and that
after Iran refuses the third attempt this is the big one boys.?
Also a giant volcanoe grew out of the ocean right beside Japan.
Signs signs everywhere are signs.
Just a matter of time before the top blows off the pressure cooker.

Not good. They might have the complete package in 6-7 years or sooner and be able to reach our coast. Then we've got a real problem. We must make them understand that North Korea will cease to exist if they continue to develop ANY weapons of mass destruction. The same goes for Iran, and others.

They are just small flies making a big buzz. They are using the missile issue to gain world attention and to feel good about big brother's paranoia. Otherwise I don't think they are likely to cause any harm left alone.

I believe the N. Koreans are test launching because they are preparing for something big, and since they are being backed by the Chinese, they are anxious to start a conflict with the U.S.. The N.Koreans are walking down a hallway that has a dead end, and if they attack the U.S. not even China will be able to save them.

There are always going to be countries like NK with the "MISSLE" POSSIBILITIES. I'm more concerned with the ones we know for a fact HAVE WORKING models. Now the stock markte will fall apart for a few days and the price of oil will go even higher. Ya just can't win these days.....

I think It's a good idea they fired, now we get to fire back an ours won't misfire or miss Ka-BOOM.. we can also put stronger sanctions on them.. we will not drop this, they are trying to get us to give them billions of dollars in aid, like they did when with Bill Clinton only this president is not going to fall for it.. Clinton gave them billions to feed their country and they bought weapons with it.. now their shooting missiles at us. Way to go Bill !!!

It's all for show. The North Korean government isn't expansionist, it's just paranoid. Leave them alone (that is, engage them without hostility) and they will collapse on their own.

Since they landed in the sea of Japan, I think the Chinese and Japanese may have some hard line discussions.
