Even if they did declare war they are 6000 miles away. What would they do try to lob some missiles at us. Good Luck!!
God help them if one hit. The B-2's would be in the air within the hour and at 72 bombs/plane that is 2016 targets we could hold in harm's way. I don't they think they would get a second round of missiles away. Especially with the B-52's coming right behind the B-2's. Worried about their fighters, oh the F-22A's, F-15's, and F/A-18's ought to ruin their day.
I completely forgot about the blue-water submarines firing about 600 Tomahawk missiles from about 1000 miles off-shore. It would not be a repeat of 1950. It would quickly be over with all missile silos destroyed and NK out of action for the forseeable future. Their people might even decide to overthrow Kim Jung-Il.
All-in-all a very bad day for North Korea!!!!!

hmmm... tough Q but a good one though!
If US meddle with Korea's missiles a good or a very bad thing might happen. Good? US with all it's other Allies might find a way to scare the Koreans to stop launching its air missiles and nuclear war heads. But I'm not totally convinced that any country will be able to scare Korea. Bad thing? Well the inevitable might happen Korea will direct its missiles towards mainland US and its outlying states including Guam and Hawaii (which are closer to Korea. They're the ones who'll probably get hit hard.) However, according to a news article I read (not sure which one it is) strategically, Alaska is closer to Korea and it's a really good target for the pissed off Koreans and my dear state of California is next to the list of the best places to aim the missile to. So please, before the US decide whether to interfere or not with the Koreans ASK OUR OPINIONS FIRST!
sincerely,
scared Asian California resident

Technically, we're still at war with NK. We've just had a cease-fire for the past 50-odd years. Would I take it seriously? Yes. NK has a large army and most of it is pointed at an ally, South Korea. That's why we're trying to negotiate using regional powers - they have a rather large stake in this kind of thing. I don't know why China doesn't rein them in; they must be tired of propping NK up. NK really needs the stuff Iran is giving them in exchange for missile and other technology.
I wouldn't be too scared. If worse comes to worse, we can take both Iran and NK at the same time.

First of all, its hard to take you serious with a pic like that.......personally I think all this talk about N.Korea threatening to declare war on us is their sad and futile attempts to scare us into looking the other way to there missile testing.....they are not stupid enough to actually declare war on the U.S., if they are that stupid than I sure do feel sorry for them.....

Yeah, we should. Kim Jong Il is NOT a stable man... they tested 2 short range missiles today that would have the range to damage South Korea, Japan or China, and they supposedly have a long range missile sitting on a LAUNCH PAD right now, that may or may not have the range to reach the states. Either way, they have the ability to hurt a lot of people.

I would not take it seriously. First of all - N. Korea knows that they would lose (big time) if they started a fight with the US.
They have been making statements like this for 50 years. Just hot air.
And even if they tried to attack us - the best they could do is provide some target practice for our missile defenses.

They aren't going to do anything. Their only friend in the entire world is China. Oh wait, and Iran, but I doubt Iran wants to get into anything with them, they've got their own problems right now.
The worst the unstable Kim Jong is going to do is declare war. He's already proved his missiles aren't worth crap.

isn't the US technically still at war with N.Korea? Just because we had a ceasefire 50 years ago, doesn't mean that a war is officially over...

I think it's a lot more serious than allocating our resources in Iraq. Especially if you live on the west coast and are in range. Bush knew this, but I guess Crawford, Texas isn't the west coast.

I don't believe NK will declare war if we take out one of its missles, especially if that missile is in our airspace. That would be a declaration of war on us, and I don't think they're that stupid.
