Dogs eat dog food, I have also seen dogs being fed boiled chicken, thats the only human food its safe for dogs to eat.

A dog doesnt have to be big to like chicken (little gogs want a treat once in a while too) dont feed your dog too much chicken...it might get spoiled

Dog food or Slump.
Depending on the breed and size of the dog, its best to find out what their stomach can tolerate.
I have used several diffrent types of food for my dogs and the only two that didn't upset their stomach was Purina and Kibbles and Bits.
Slump is also a boiled mixture of meats. It helps keep working dogs in excellent shape and well fed. (I raise german shepherds for work and companionship)

There is a lot of good advice here about dog food. For myself, I would say that what they eat depends on what is available and how hungry they are.

They should eat dog food. Alot of people feed then table food like meat and cheese. These can make them overweight and unhealthy. Wild dogs eat small prey like rabbits.

They're omnivorous, so they'll eat just about anything, but dog food that's actually formulated to give them the nutrients that they need is generally the best thing for them.

Everything. DO NOT ever feed your dog a corn cob!! It will not be able to S**T and will die. They will eat anything you are eating that looks like you are enjoying,
