Racism exsits because people need to have something to use as an excuse. My brother-in-law pulled a guy over late one night. It was dark and his windows were tinted. The first thing he said to my brother-in-law was " you pulled me over because I am black". Luckly my brother-in-law is quick and he responded "your just saying that because I am white". My brother-in-law never even saw the guy until he walked up to the window. But instead of being pulled over because he was speeding or whatever, this man thried to play the race card. This is the reason racsim exsits.....for an excuse to bad behavior!

The question you should have asked is How racist is the justice system, and does it have a tendency to give tougher sentences to minorities?
The answer would have been yes. The justice system has always handed out tougher sentences to minorities. The Death sentence is no different. Jeffrey Dahmer kill how many boys, and what did he get life in prison. Charles Manson's cult killed how many people five what did they receive Life with parole.
These whites can kill as many people as they want and receive life in prison, but Tookie Williams was charged with killing 2 people and he received the death penalty.
That just goes back to the old southern saying " A white person can kill a black person and get off, but if a black person kills a white person he will receive the death penalty." I know everyone is going to bring up that long shot of a cas OJ Simpson, but remember he had an asian judge.
Why is the system the way it is Judges and Prosecutors are elected officials and they want to inpress the majority, and whats the best way to do it killing minorities.

I think that racism has leaked into everything. That's like wondering if racism occurs at your local grocery store. There are racist people in any line of work, and therefore, involved in sentencing the death penalty I'm certain. Now, to answer your question a little more precisely, I have not seen evidence of anyone sentenced with the death penalty that I know to have happened because of racial prejudices, but I don't follow that stuff too closely.

No I don't believe so, I can only speak for Texas because I really don't tap into much news about prisoners being put to death in other states. There has been a varitey of people senteced to death row. I watched a show on TV that went inside of a prison and they showed the people that are on death row and it was very mixed. There were blacks, white, Mexicans etc. So they are not just handing the death penalty because of your race.
I don't believe in the death penalty anways. No one knows what happens when you leave this earth. You can only go by words read in the bible or else where. Not everything you read is true. No one has died, went to heaven or hell, and then came back and told us about it. So I think that a person should have to suffer all his/her days left in this world in prison, for killing someone unless it was honest to GOD self-defense. A person that takes a life for no reason, need to rot for what they did, that is their punishment. You take a life, your life is taken from you by putting you in jail forever and not getting to see the outside world. Just think the people on death row not only literally took the life of a person, but they took a piece of life away from every person, that the person they killed knew. Plain and simple.

yes, the porportions for the blacks being put to death are off cause they do make up a higher amount of those being put to death than they are in the population.
On the other hand, the death penalty, itself, has a lot to do with the person's socioeconomic situation. The poorer people are the ones who usually end up being put to death. Read Dead Man Walking, it's a pretty good book

yes it does exist. Just look at the stats. A lot of it is due to economics but racism itself cannot be denied.
What is even worse is the sexism. women hardly ever get the death penalty.

Absolutely!
Theoretically. If you were to steal a loaf of bread, your sentence would be 2 years (serving 1) and you would be on 5 years probation.
Someone financially wealthy or kin of, would serve 6 months, 50 hours of bullcrap community service and there record expunged for stealing $10 million dollars.
etc....

It's not so much race as it is economics....poor people cannot afford the representation that will keep them off death row. Now, how much race and economics affect each other is a very open debate, but most folks agree that they are related to each other to a degree.
It's the money to afford excellent representation that keeps most people off death row, not the color of their skin.

No, it does not. The death penalty exists simply because vicious criminals deserve it when they fail to show any remorse for their crimes.
If you believe what the Democrats are telling you, you are being LIED too.
plain and simple
