Wait until the male is at least 18 months old, there is a better success rate if you wait until he is 2 years old but I know people who have male cockatiels that are only 10, and 11 months old and they breed just fine, it depends on the individual bird. If you think your male is ready try it, but i'VE NEVER HEARD OFA MALE cOCKATIEL BREEDEING THIS YOUNG

I recommend that the female be no less than 3. The male should be 2 or older.

They will normally start mating at about 2 years old but they can stay together and never mate. It just depends on the teils.
