Actually, its is not a Mormon only thing.
It is about modesty. We are Christians and our girls are only allowed to wear one piece suits at camp and in our house its a rule of long standing.
We feel there is no need to show more of our bodies than needed for the particular situation we are in. Two piece suits and some one piece suits just plain make keeping essential items covered very difficult.
Just a little note, even in secular school systems, girls are required to wear one piece suits in gym class and on swim teams. Modesty is not just a religion thing.

Most religions preach modesty. Mormon girls are very modest in their dress which is probably why they wouldn't wear a two-piece bathing suit. I'm not Mormon - just taking an educated guess.

LDS is a great religeon. First off, 2 peice suits are immodest to us. They atractect the wrong people. Plus, wearing one peices shows more morality and cleanlyness to a person. One peices are more flattering, and you dont have to worry about someone untying the back. Although we don't like to wear 2 pecies, we can wear tankini's. 2 peice swimsuits give women a bad reputation of TRYING to attract dumb men who only look on the outside.

you dont have to be Mormon just to wear one piece bathing suit there are people that are modesty. and don't want to show off everything that they have to the whole world.
The people that are not permitted to get into the pool are the missioners

I always find it interesting the Mormons talk about themselves as if they are the only religion that teaches modesty, no premarital sex, that divorce is wrong, adultery is bad.
Especially interesting since I lived in UT for 10 years and KNOW that their lives aren't as puristic as they try to make people believe.

Many people, not just Mormons, have the point of view that the bikini is immodest. Immodest clothes are provocative of lustful thoughts and actions. Clothing which draws attention to the body overemphasizes that aspect of ourselves.

i didn't even know they swam..cause i always see them in those light purple dresses

we are not a loud to show bare midrift which is out tummy or somach and we can wear tankinis if it doesnt show our stomac ans its every woman/girl that cant wear bikinis

Probably b/c it shows less skin, therefore promoting sex and promiscuity a LOT LESS than would a bikini...(and it's a whole lot harder to take off than a bikini, so sex would not come as easy...)
