What is considered a sin is up for debate, I mean, depending on what you believe in or what life style you follow you can come up with a million reasons why it could be a sin or not. I will give you my opinion though; I believe that if there is a doubt about an action that you might take is either good or bad, you are probably more inclined to resolve that it is bad. By this I mean that there is an obvious doubt of whether you consider this proper action because you are not completely comfortable with the idea. I allow myself to say this because a person doesn't generally ponder about doing something that they are convinced is ok with them (granted that they are not hurting others).
Whether something is right or wrong (again, as long as you don't hurt others) is basically up to how you feel about it, and most the time with a question like this, you already know the answer, it's within you.
As far as contradicting the bible goes; just remember that even within the bible you find contradictions, and one last thing, I don't know if you ever heard of the saying, "Treat your body as if it were a temple", now, think about a temple and think beautifully decorated they are with paintings and art.

According to the bible it is. The reason it is, is because of the history behind tattoos, and the origination. The problem with people today is that they do things without understanding the original or the meaning. Tattoos are sin according to the bible because in the bible days, people use to make markings on their skin and paintings and writings, in order to signify worship for their god, and it was not the God in heaven, it was pagan gods. What the bible calls graven images.

The Mosaic Law forbade God's people to tattoo themselves. Said Leviticus 19:28: "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD." Pagan worshipers, such as the Egyptians, tattooed the names or symbols of their deities on their breast or arms. While Christians today are not under the Law of Moses, the prohibition it laid on tattooing is sobering. If you are a Christian, you would certainly not want to make markings on your body—even temporarily—that smack of paganism or false worship.
Also there are health risks with getting a tattoo--there is the danger of contracting AIDS from an infected needle. And even though the needle only goes in a little way, anytime you break the skin, you have a risk of bacterial or viral infection.

Leviticus 19:28
you must not put tatoo markings upon yourselves
This permanently changes your body which was forbidden to early christians. God doesn't change how he feels about certain things.
Aside from the fact it is unhealthy and you can get a terrible infection

I dont think so, first of all... biblically the word "tattoo" was never used, the word used meant "mark" and it specifies not to do it for the dead. Also, your body may very well be the Temple but even God instructed His Temple to be decorated with different kinds of art.
I wouldnt suggest getting a tattoo of Satan or anything sexual, Id think that is sinful... or a tattoo on your genitals. But I dont see why there would be a problem with something else... its just art on a body that we dont take to eternity anyway.

There is one verse in the Bible on this. It is in the old testament when God is giving the Israelites their laws. It sez basically not to put tattoos on your body. it is in Leviticus 19:28.

Yes, according to some churches, getting a tattoo is a sin, as is usinga computer, or not covering your head. Grow up, and stop relying on the bible for your every thought. If you've got one of the newer versions, it's wrong anyway.

God made us in his image, you know we are all different in some ways but we do not have EXTRA colors all over us, if GOD wanted extra colors all over us, he would have put them there. It DOES state in the bible to not do harm to our bodies with peircings or tattoos. maybe not in those exact words, but it's in there! I will edit this soon and tell you WHERE it's states in the bible to answer your question!
