finality of being single.....?

relationship with "girlfriend" recently ended, but it probably was really over when she cheated a few years ago. wanted to know if anyone, male or female, was in a situation like me where, the finality of being really really single hits you. you appreciate friends advice, told to hang in there, someone will come along when you least expect it etc...but in reality, it never really does. seems like you see all kinds of people in relationships, but nothing really happens for you. maybe months or even years at a time. just wondering if anybody is in a similar situation as i am??

Yeah, I think now that I am getting a little older and all of my cousins (who are younger, by the way) are all having kids and have houses in the suburbs it seems to really be stinging a little bit. There are only two of us in my family who are not married/ in a committed relationship.
I think it doesn't help that I am also old (and wise) enough to be "over" the dating scene/bar scene....I re-read this and I sound really old - I'm really just 33.
Oh, it gets worse when they all start trying to set you up with the strangest people - I know they are trying to help but I actually think it makes it worse.

The guy I was seeing broke up with me last September only to tell me that and old ex-girlfriend (an mother of his first daughter) had come back into his life. I just found out that they are getting married in a few weeks. You're not alone. I can't seem to find a decent man and when I do, I end up getting hurt. Sorry to hear about your situation.
