For instant relief, take about 3/4 teaspoon of baking soda in a 1/2 cup of water and drink it. The Base(alkalinity) in the baking soda offsets the stomach Acid. You should not do this long term, if you have consistant heartburn you need to see a dr.
Hope this helps

Soy protein powder in water. It tastes really bad but it is really helps excess acid and heartburn problems.
Just 1/3 of a scoop in 8-10 oz of water. Knock it back like medicine and try not to taste it.
My husband found that it worked as good if not better than Pepto-Bismol in settling his heartburn.

Stir a spoonful of baking soda into 8 oz of cold water.
Chug it down and then walk around for a minute or two.
You'll feel a big burp coming ... let it go.
That's the best way to take care of heartburn quickly.
Most important to walk around after drinking. Otherwise, it's not effective.

Sometimes heart burn is caused by reflux of acid contents of stomach.U can try
1 Eat small frequent meals
2 Less fatty foods and oils
3 Sleep with head end of the bed raised(u can use two pillows)
4 Avoid spices
5 If these measures dont help consult ur doctor who may prescribe either rantidine or omperazole alone or in combination with prokinets like metoclopramide.

take a Prilosec OTC every day. that's what I do for heartburn/acid reflux. on occasion when it's extra bad, I also chew a Pepcid Complete, which is Pepcid + Maalox. but you said you didn't want antacid, so I guess that's out.

I will actually try 1 teaspoon of baking soda to about 8 ounces of water. Drink it all down as fast as possible. It doesn't taste real great but it isn't horrific either. Hope you feel better.
