No way. Many people are using the Internet to pursue their illicit, criminal and other unlawful activities in the disguise of friendship. Of course we can never tell the real intentions of these people until we met them personally, unless you are willing to take the risk and let your son go. Explain to him the possibilities that might happen to him if he'll go and meet this young lady. Tell your son to be contended in the Internet and phone calls for the meantime. Be alert and watch your son's daily activities but don't be too hard/strict on him. Remember, the world is full of trickery, but it is still a beautiful world. God bless your family.

Well, I'm not a parent yet, but I hope my answer helps. If I were a parent, I would definitely NOT allow my child to do that. The Internet could be a very dangerous place. Although I can understand your son's love for this girl, I wouldn't take the risk.

well,by 17,my son had his GED and was almost finished with Chef's training,so I would have let him.It would have to be based on how mature my son was.And have YOU talked to the girl's parents? Does she live at home? Where would he be staying? How well has he planned the trip? Is he paying for it? I'd have to have all these answers or my answer would be"Spend the time between now and the time you turn 18 getting to know her better-then you can do as you please"

absolutely not!!! I have to approve of all the dates my kids have before they are allowed to date. that means i have to meet them talk to their parents and they have to have at least 2 "family dates" (yes with us) before they go out by themselves. the Internet is so full of perverts what if the girl is a 40 year old pedophile?

No way. It would be one thing if she came to your state to visit and meet with you also. But to sent him there, it could be a 50 yr old old man who put some female up to calling...scary
Dont you ever watch dateline? lol :)

Tell him No, because right now it still isn't his choice. Then when he turns 18 and still wants to meet her then it is up to him. You may be the bad guy now but if something bad were to happen you would blame yourself. Either way I don't think it is smart but atleast you won't have to worry.
