It's really bad. They put lids on it and when you take the lid off and smell it, it makes you feel sick to your stomach. There is no excuse for such terrible food at the rates hospitals charge.

I have a feeling that BAD is relative to why we are in a hospital, and subjective as it regards our taste in food anyway,,,IE: you state you LOVE school cafeteria food...No offense to you or any school, institution, etc., but certain situations and environments aren't strictly condusive to ENJOYING a meal.
Actually I've been in a local hospital here where the food was very good, even though an Adventist hospital, not serving any meat products.
Being in a hospital bed, especially for any reason traumatic, very likely distracts us from other THINGS we normally find enjoyable. We don't want to be there in the first place. We are confined to a degree. We aren't even dressed as we are used to, have to share a room, often. We're interrupted by being wakened, merely to be asked if we're sleeping OK. I could go on.
FOOD, is necessary as part of our survival mechanism. In my case,,,though admittedly I enjoy food,,, it's function, not form, for me. I eat because I have to, not strictly because it's time to, or I want to. Very often a Chef Boyardee "meal" is adequate, though I wouldn't choose it, at many other times.
Hospitals offer us what they consider healthy, adequate, safe, and already considered that their food bill, will primarily be totaled as "waste"
As an aside, I offer this.....
"Hey neighbor, you gonna eat that Jello? I'll trade ya my muffin, if ya change the TV channel." "No, sorry, they didn't butter it."

IT'S BAD SO YOU WANT TO GET OUT OF THE HOSPITAL QUICKER LOL. Actually it depends on the hospital you are in I have been in a number of different hospitals due to a variety of reasons THAT I RATHER NOT TALK ABOUT and while some are rather nasty some have had excellent food. All in all it probably comes down to the fact that a hospitals kitchen has to make diets from bland to the point where you are only getting clear liquids to regular food house diets and each and every one of them have to be nutritionally balanced and be palatable enough that the patient will eat it.

i might say plane food as a generic rule, whether in firstclass you may get exceedingly respectable food. My grandmother grew to become into interior the well being facility final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days for 10 days and he or she had get admission to to an exceedingly good menu. rapid food is exceedingly undesirable healthwise, even with the incontrovertible fact that that's exceedingly tasty many of the time :)

There are many reasons......they are mass producing it....think of how many meals they are preparing. And those meals have to be very bland....think about all of the issues going on in that hospital. They also have to adhere to guidelines as far as how much salt, fat, and all the other stuff that makes food taste yummy.

Maybe it's the atmosphere. It always smells so weird and just the thought that someone might have died two seconds ago two doors over. Or maybe I'm paranoid.

2. Because you are sick and not very into eating
3. Its too bad cause you need the extra energy to get well fast.

It's because they don't want you using the bed longer than you have too. If the food is good, then you'd stay longer.
