Really HDTV antennas don't exist. HDTV is a type of format displayed on your TV screen. The signal that provides HDTV to your receiver is called a digital signal. Digital signals will and are being broadcast on the same frequencies as the analog signals we have used for years. The only differance is analog signal use radio waves to bring you the pictures and sound as digital uses 0's and 1's like a computer. The TV antenna that worked good for analog signal at a particular location will also work good for a digital signal. Many people believe that all digital signals will be broadcast on UHF (14-69), not true! The reason many stations are broadcasting on UHF now, is the VHF is currently being used to broadcast their analog signals. On February 17th 2009 the analog signals will be turned off in the U.S. At this time many broadcasters will begin broadcasting their digital signals on their former analog VHF channel. (2-13). Before you purchase a TV antenna designed for UHF, check to see the final channel destination for your area. The FCC offers a site called final channel destination at http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DA-05-1743A2.pdf This site can help you determine if the digital channels in your area will be VHF or UHF or both. The Consumers Electronics Accosiation offers a site http://antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspxr for help determining what TV antenna is best for your location. It depends on your location with respect to the transmitter. For the best guide go to

http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx

Everything you need to know about how to pick an antenna is there. In general, I have heard that the Channel Master 4228 or 4224 are the best in most cases.
