I am always told that I'm too skinny and I agree. I'm tired of people saying "eat more" or "you're so skinny". I always try to eat and I want to gain some weight. But I don't want to do it by eating pizza and hamburgers all day. I want to gain weight in a healthy way. PLEASE give me an answer. I would be REALLY thankful.

To gain weight - GO ON A DIET. Yeah, doesn't make sense, right? Except when you go on a strict diet it drops your metabolism a bit. That is why many fat people regain weight and a bit more. Go on a strict 500 calorie a day diet for 1 week. The next week eat normally for you. You will gain any weight you lost plus a bit, because you have brought down your metabolism. If after a couple weeks you would like to gain a bit more do it again. While you are on the diet and while you aren't do weight training as well. It will cause the weight you wain to be muscle rather than fat. When you are where you want to be totally FORGET about dieting ever again so you don't gain too much. Good luck!

I'm 95 pounds (finally!) and will be 21 this month. I feel your pain. Here's the best advice I have recieved: eat lots of carbs and don't drink anything (especially water) before you eat. Drink afterwards so you don't fill up on zero calories. Some other ways to gain are drink Carnitation Instant Breakfast (by far the best calorie-boost drink they have, Ensure is in a distant second) and read the "loose weight" tips and do the exact opposite. You'll notice that they often tell people to drink a glass a water before they start eating so they fill up. Just don't follow the rules! Also, snack before you go to bed so you can keep the calories instead of burning them off by doing other things (exercising).

Good luck. It'll take a while to gain, but when you do, you'll be so happy!

The easy answer is to increase your daily calories. First you need to come up with a reasonable estimate of the calories you take in on a daily basis now. Then try to increase that number maybe by five hundred to one thousand depending on how fast & how much weight you want to gain. Remember, all foods have calories so YOU can choose which foods you want to add to your diet. There are lots of nutrition websites to help you make your calorie changes & healthy additions to your diet which will help you gain some weight. Remember also you should set a goal weight you want to reach & when you are approaching that goal taper back slowly on the calories until you are not gaining any more weight or losing any weight. This will be the amount of calories you should try to take in on a daily basis to maintain the weight gain you achieved. Good Luck!

A great way to gain weight in a healthy way is to get some muscle! Too "skinny" can still be healthy if you're fit and eat right. Find a workout that works well for you and eat some more protein. Muscle weighs more than fat so you'll be doing yourself a favor in both gaining weight and getting more fit!

I was told the same thing all my life, but believe me, it is better to be skinny then been fat.

But if you really want to gain and you try all things, well, maybe see a doctor, you could have a stomach bacteria that is not allowing you to gain weight. I tell you by experience. My doctor told me I had a bacteria and gave me medicine, and then I normally started gaining some pounds, now I want some off. Even though I only weight 130lbs. But I notice that skinny was better. you are more flexible and lighter.

Try eating a little bit more each time you eat. You need to increase calories to put on weight. There are foods that are good for you but contain calories like peanut butter, fattier steaks, real butter on whole wheat bread. Maybe try adding an extra snack in here and there.

Nibble healthy things between meals. Nuts are healthy and have lots of calories. Same with raisins. Make shakes or smoothies in a blender with vanilla yogurt and bananas or other fruit. Dried fruits have lots of calories too. Visit a health foods store and ask for things to snack on. Drink fruit juices instead of cokes.

I used to have that problem. I drank Carnation instant breakfast a couple times a day. Or try Boost. It won't be dramatic or anything but they help some. And try eating alot of bread and pasta.
