People can only repeat what they have heard, including Tourettes paitents.

Excellent question.
I think they know what they are doing.
There is so much repressed anger and this is the way it comes out.
I think it can be stopped by beating it out of them.
This how ever would lead to a more severe repression and response.
The cause of the repression has to be found.
If they did not know any swear words other words would be substituted, what ever would be the closest in line on the totem pole of words representing negative emotions.
It is not so much the word as the action of bursting out.
Even wild animals can be trained.

The Tourettes guy on a video says "BobSaget! BobSaget!" so it doesn't matter to him that he's not actually swearing. He swears too, but they would probably pick up something else to say.

i still am in doubt wether turrets is a real condition or something created by western culture. I bet no native indians in the amazon suffre from it.
