Being that I am a father and still with my son's mother.... I would play it safe and say 6 weeks.
Major complications can occur if you do not properly heal.

Doctors say 6 weeks, but that's if everything goes well. You should have check-ups after the baby is born-your doctor will release you then. But, no matter what your doctor or your husband says...don't do it until YOU are ready. Talk to your husband and explain the concerns you have. He should be understanding. I had a C-section and I told my husband my concerns-he was OK with it. Our first time was about 2 months after my daughter was born. It didn't hurt, but I was pretty scared. Good luck-everything will work out!

I started having sex at about 6 weeks, right after I got my IUD. I didn't want to have another baby! I loved to have sex after waiting so long! I'm sure my husband loved it too. It actually didn't hurt at all like I expected. I didn't really get many stitches though either. Just listen to your body, and your doctor! Have fun with the sex!

It sounds crazy, but I only bled for 2 weeks after having my kids. I waited 3 weeks with my first child and 4 weeks with my second.
