Buy a cheap guitar, and then learn to play all the major chords. There are a lot of websites out there with guitar tutorials. If you can, become friends with someone who already knows how to play and ask them to give you some tips.

i bought a cheap elec for 200 bucks, it does the job, then i bought 2 white stripes music books, it has the tabs and chords and notes so you get an idea of whats goin on, ive not had one lesson and im gettin not too bad at the old guitar.

you could get taught for free (maybe) if your parents friends knows how to and your parents ask them to teach you. or somethin like that, anyways.
