my partners company reckons he is only allowed three days

Legally? Zero.

You can take unpaid leave under the Family Medical Leave Act but there's no guarantee that your same job will return once you decide to return.

Your company may offer you some time off (progressive companies do) but that's up to them as an at-will employee.

The Medical and Family leave act allows 12 unpaid weeks off to care fo a child or loved one. Regardless of gender. But there are rules for this, I believe there has to be 50 or more employees working for the company at any given time to qualify for this ACT.

Men aren't allowed any maternity leave. They are however allowed 'paternity' leave.

theirs is called paternity leave and they are allowed by law 12 weeks with no pay but there are certain requirements of the employer

i know women r allowed up to 6 months. pregnant teens r allowed up to six weeks of school. men i'm not too sure about. maybe a month?

here the men can take half of the mat leave but the mother can not be on it
