Hey, I can pretty much assure you won't get very many good answers to this question on Yahoo Answers! Go to www.Nappturality.com or www.Fotki.Com and search the key word "locs" ...there are many women that will answer any questions you may have on what some of their locjourney's were like. But only you can truly know what your journey will be like...I just started my locs and I'm loving them...I think having them teaches me Patience..in the sense that will in the locing process you ARE NOT in control. you hair is! it will do it's own thing and go it's own way..all you have to do is sit back and let it take form the way God Intended!

Yes! I do have dreads and I love 'em!
I've had them for 2 1/2 years
Why'd I get em? One day I just decided I wanted dreads. Grew my hair out long enought and BAM! Gottem.
They are 12 inches (or one foot) on average)
Most response is positive. I was afraid about not being able to land a job because of them, but they haven't been a problem. I'm a computer programmer/analyst and no one at work has any issues.

You won't know until u get them done for yourself. It'll be easier to manage. I'm sure you can have them at any length you wish. You may get a few stares, will you be able to put up with this? Alot of people look because they think they look nice, or they're jelous or wish they had the guts to have them themselves. Certain people can pull them off (not literally).
Go on you only live once!

i'd have liked them but as a kid I was too white (y'know, in those days it Just Wasn't Done) and now I'm too bald. Bummer.
But dreads have always been cool when they're proper dreads and not just unwashed rope. Go get dreads.

I had locks ten years ago. Generally I had good reactions from other hippies, and bad reactions from chavs (they weren't called chavs back then, but they existed!)... I am not a hippie anymore!

wanted to get locs but my personal manager said no as it will limit the roles that i get!!
a friend of mine had them all the way to her bum. and boy, she looked hot and sexy!

I Had. Didn't like it...It not so good for hair and it is hard to get them off.
