it depends on the situation...i find it funny if a guy says that phrase in a joking/"i'm going out on a limb here" but if he's actually saying it in all seriousness it's definitely cheesy. there are other phrases/words he can use other than just "hot"

... well personally i don't like it when a guy tells me I'm hot cuz it feels like all they see in me is looks and not who i am, so i think that it is nicer when a guy says you are so beautiful, i have a saying "If i say you are hot i'm just looking at your apperance, but if i say you are beautiful i'm looking at who you really are inside." and i thinnk that's what matters.... unless you are just looking for some "hot" girl to chase after then you do whatever.

I would never say that as a primary play. It sounds like all you want to do is something physical.
You should get to know her first and have fun with her before you express yourself physically. Girls don't like to be rushed.

hot really isn't the right word, from what i know girls would rather be called pretty, beautiful, gorgeous ect. not hot or sexy or smokin'

some would receive it well, if you're not in a relationship with them then they might think of as a pick up line and that you've only got one thing on your mind.
