ok lets say i want to blow my nose. i get sum loo roll, blow it, and get rid of it. i was wondering which is worse, if i put it in a bin (for landfill) or if i flush it down the loo (for sewage)

It all depends if there is already something in the loo you can get No. 2 for 1 with your flush ;).

Neat question, very tricky though... and it all comes dow to where you live and what happens to waste...

assuming it goes for landfill, it takes some diesel fuel for the truck to take it there, once it is there loo roll and boogers are great for landfill sites.

flushing takes it to a water treatment plant where some form of pump is needed to get it into a bio-digestion system where as for landfill its great stuff, after treatment clean water goes back in the river and dried material goes to fertilizer or landfill

or

flushing sends it out a pipe to sea where it is good fish food

see what I mean about it being a close call, if there is anything to make it greener (thats environmentally friendly green, not the health of your nose and boogers!) then cut out the loo roll and, if possible aim for a veg patch or compost heap

The tissue is biodegradable, so putting it in the bin would be better than flushing and using up water.

putting it in the garbage is worse because sewage water is cleaned and reclaimed so it can be used for drinking water again and if you put it in the garbage it goes to a land fill, and dont listen to stevepow1 about wasting water because the water will just be cleaned and recycled

Flushing cause you're also wasting water. If you're really bothered you can start a compost.

Both. The best solution is to use recycleable paper.
