We see ads. about 'happy cows' in California but according to Peta conditions are disgusting. I heard cows are fed antibiotics constantly. It's probably affecting the milk so consumers need to know.

I can't answer for the dairy farmer, but I am assuming they have the same philosophy as we beef cattle ranchers. We DON'T feed them antibiotics. Why would we? I would just cost more to keep them. If they are sick, we would give them a shot, but would it not be more cruel to let them suffer and die? We that raise them are very conscious of what the consumer wants. We try to give them that. Our cows are not treated badly, they are well fed and well cared for; but, they are after all cows. God put them on the earth to feed His people.

Dairy farmers cannot make a profit if they have sick cows with antibiotics. Most antibiotics are injected. They have a withdrawal date and the cow cannot be milked until this withdrawal date is up. Just in case someone decided they don't want to wait the milk is also tested(therefore they DO wait.) The big issue right now is not antibiotics, it is the use of hormones used to promote growth and milk production. These hormones have been tested and retested by the USDA for over twenty years and they are safe. If you feel they are not safe you can buy certified organic( make sure it is certified because otherwise you are getting ripped off) and pay more for it, but I myself don't see any problems with buying regular beef and milk.
Also, the problem that I have with PETA is that most of them have never been on a farm other than to protest or try to cause trouble. They are considered a terrorist group and rip millions of people off by taking their money. PETA doesn't even want anyone to have pets. PETA wants COMPLETE animal liberation and will do it by any means necessary. This includes killing animals for the good of the "cause." Many times they get hired into plants or production facilities and video tape animals upset because they have scared them.

Cows are nasty, stinky animals. They lie in their own waste. They eat where they have bowel movements. Most animals are like that. Cows are not happy or sad. They are cows. Stupid animals. Yes, they are fed antibiotics. After what they eat? Yuck.
