Ok, I know that almost eveyone goes through this in thier lifetime. You don't have to have a bad dream. You could be lying there, trying to wake up, eyes open and alert...somewhat. But when you try to get up, it is hard to. you can't shake it off. I had experiences like this all my life. I talked to others about this. They say that they went through the same thing. I find it scary. One day, I found myself in this situation again, but this time I tried to pray aloud, but I could'nt. So I prayed silently, as God hears the heart. before I finished my prayer, it stopped. So I am asking, how many people went through this scenario?

I have gone through this scenario and yes, it was very scary. My whole being tingled and shivered. I have gone through it a few times. It felt like my whole being was being invaded. Through study I have learned that this feeling is actually your soul, reentering your body from a period of astral travel. This happens often while we are sleeping, because the soul needs to leave the confines of the body every so often. Being in the physical body is like being caged. I haven't felt it since I found out what it was. Now I wish I could.

I think we all go through what you've gone through. Pne poster said that it might be sleep paralysis -- If it is sleep paralysis then note that it is harmless, like the poster said. Unfortunately, however, real sleep paralysis (again, I don't know if you are experiencing it) has resulted in a very strong fear response that results in the mind manufacturing some pretty weird experiences. In the Middle Ages, the mind manufactured demons and in modern times the mind manufactures alien abductions. People aren't lying when they relate these experiences; however, it is helpful to realize that it's just the mind's fearful response to a very normal and harmless event (and this realization should help in preventing the mind from projecting a fear response).

It happened to me a couple of times a long time ago when I was in the army. I was in the barracks, in my bunk, and could hear people talking (they were talking) but I couldn't move.

It's been explained to me, but I forget what causes it. It's more or less normal. Something to do with the brain not being fully active.

Scary when it happens, though, seems like it went on forever, but it didn't really.

this is with ur BRAIN preception and nothing more, everyone dwell in this illussion... its b'coz u go through say a 20 hrs wake where find more people, taughts, thoughts, speaking... our BRAIN during sleep, our preception will focus in certain dimension so we are getting all things as a series b4 us.. we cant discriminate it... we felt panic... then we have the kind of assertiveness... where we are still sleepy... our BRAIN control our BODY... so we cant do any effort apart from this just watching... if u can do any thing right, then u should go to a doctor...

Sleep cycles run in intervals of 1.5 hours. Sometimes if you try to wake up in the middle of a cycle, it's really difficult to do so and it leaves you really disoriented.

Other causes are food intolerances, allergies, illness and extreme stress.

Try to get plenty of water during the day and leave yourself time to get 6, 7.5 or 9 hours of sleep a night if you can.

That has happened to me a few times, where I can't move nor speak. It is scary, but for me, it usually passes after a few moments without any special effort on my part. It's like your mind is awake, but your body is still sleeping.

It's called sleep paralysis. It's a harmless phenomenon, with no spiritual meaning.
